If facts are facts, why are you ignoring the fact that Curry led the Warriors to several playoff appearances earlier in his career? If you're saying that, in order to win a title, Harden needs 2 franchise players, 3 former all-stars, and role players who shoot 3 pointers at an elite percentage, then that means he needs more help than Curry to win a title. Again, I think that's an incorrect and unfair statement, but I'm simply applying your faulty logic.
Yes, Harden may need more help to win a title. Who cares? That not what this thread is about. It's about whether Curry can carry his team into the playoffs as the man, and he hasn't been able to. Harden still hasn't missed a single playoffs, Curry has missed two in a row (and the first two years he played in the league as a rookie I think). Thus, Curry can't carry his own team team. Nothing difficult or requiring much brain power to figure out.
Basketball has always been a team game. No player can do it alone, and GSW had a garbage team this year. You have bad logic. If Curry can't carry his own team, then how did he lead GSW to the playoffs a few times before their super team years? You're omitting necessary qualifiers. "Curry can't carry his own team" is an incorrect statement. "Curry can't carry a garbage supporting cast to the playoffs" would be far more accurate.
Harden has dragged multiple trash teams to the playoffs in the stacked West and then was ridiculed when he can't carry them to a championship. As for Curry, here's your clue, he didn't carry them, he was part of an ensemble of all stars, super stars, and generational talents. As his playoffs failure streak of two proves, he can't carry a team, he either breaks down or greatly underperforms when it matters.
Harden had a bad supporting cast in his first year with us. Which other roster was a "trash team"? I suggest you look at the 2013 roster. Also, it's pretty laughable that you're including a season where Curry played 5 games and the Warriors were openly tanking.
This Curry fanboy really brought up game 6 against the Clippers to make it seem like Harden had some great supporting cast when he dragged the 14-15 Rockets to the 2nd seed and WCF. speaking of the 2015 WCF, let’s see how that supporting cast did while Harden was averaging 28, 8, and 6 on 47/43/87 shooting splits in that series Josh Smith shot 39% from the field and 42% from the line starting PG geriatric Jason Terry shot 38% from the field and 30% from 3 playing 31 minutes a game Corey Brewer shot 34% from the field, and didn’t make a single three Terrence Jones shot 38% from the field, and 17% from 3 Prigioni shot 33% from the field, and 17% from 3 yet another L for this kid wekko..,he enjoys getting embarrassed...he gets off on being humiliated...it’s a shame to see
Curry is hurting Draymond's legacy if he is commanding a max salary and cant even carry his team into the playoffs. Green should ask to be traded. He deserves to play with a legitimate star player.
How does a couple guys who were legitimately bad players over a large sample get classified as not bad because of their performance in PART of 1 game? Bad players have good games all the time.
Is that you Russ? Steph? Controlling when you make plays is what dictates tempo, a massive facet of being a great playmaker. See Harden, Lebron, Luka and CP3 compared to Steph, Russ, Trey, etc...
Because of the magnitude of the game. A playoff elimination game with a large deficit while the team's star is on the bench? How often do bad players have good games in those circumstances? Also, that team wasn't as bad as you think. In the games Dwight missed, look at the stats from our wins against playoff teams. You're going to be shocked at what you discover.
Im not here to argue whether that supporting cast was “good” or “bad”. I just don’t buy your argument that showing up in a particular game automatically makes you not “bad”. No matter the circumstances. Who you are as a player is shown over large samples not small ones. I could go through the Warriors game log this year and find at least 1 game where the supporting cast was really good. Doesn’t make them a really good supporting cast.
I agree with you, but you're trivializing the game as well as the players. It was an elimination game with a large deficit and Harden on the bench. Dwight Howard was on the court. Trevor Ariza was on the court. Those guys were proven. Josh Smith was clearly past his prime, but in his prime, he was a fringe all-star caliber player. In the first round, he averaged 17 ppg (51% FG% and 39% 3pt%) and 6 rpg. Jason Terry was on the court, and in his prime, he was also a fringe all-star caliber player. Even at the age of 37, I think we can all agree that he was "not bad". Again. Elimination game facing a large deficit with Harden on the bench.
Further? Don't you mean "at all"? You haven't broken anything down. You started by stating that tempo was a facet of playmaking, and when I asked you to explain how, you realized you couldn't. And here we are now.
I guess because they didn't play in the playoffs. By that logic, I guess Oubre and Wiseman can be excluded from Curry's supporting cast.
Oh, I didn't realize you were serious. Dwight > Draymond Green Ariza < Andrew Wiggins Brewer > Bazemore J. Smith > Looney Terry/T.Jones > Toscano Anderson/J.Poole GSW is simply a poorly constructed roster. No interior defense, rim protection, or rebounding. And outside of Curry, only Wiggins can consistently create his own shot.
