Most Asians in the US today came during and after the 80s with a selection filter of merit and wealth for most immigrants from there. So it's kinda silly to compare them to a racial group like African Americans whose lineage dates back to 400 years ago when they were introduced as slaves.

 

The evidence that it is racist would be the different outcomes along racial lines, wouldn't it? Isn't that how many people define racism now?

Can't be the only evidence. It's one thing to say that an IQ test is biased against certain groups because of cultural differences and examples that are used in the problems, it's entirely another to say mathematical equations themselves are racist when math is a universal language.

it certainly has the potential to offend. on the other hand it is a POLITICAL cartoon. I take it that the intent was to comment that Yang is somehow not a "real" New Yorker, whereas other tweets explain how Yang has lived in NYC for 25+ years.

Usually your posts are critical of "woke" culture so it's not much of a leap (or mind read) honestly vs just deductive based on your past posts.

In any case, I agree that there are political elements to it. I don't think calling him a tourist is racist given that Times Sq is a tourist trap and he had said it's his favorite stop. What I see that's questionable are the slanty eyes and the way they made him diminutive despite being rather tall. It's eye-opening the way he is being portrayed, no pun intended.

There's been racism in NY since the dawn of the dutch. The right doesn't have a monopoly on racism, they are just the most likely to integrate it into their politics.

not at all. the Obama cartoon is WAY more offensive than the Yang cartoon. do you disagree? or are the two cartoons equivalent in your eyes?

I think most of the immigration was between the 40's and the 70's during the Wars.
