Can't defend Dusty on this one. He said he thought Pressly could get inside on Garcia and jam him. Well, even if that did happen, a run could still score.

Everyone and their mom knew a BB was the best strategy... except the manager

No one buy Breggy Bomb Salsa until he picks up his Breggy bomb pace. Five home runs every forty games isn’t going to cut it.

The managers in the league as a whole have figured out how to get better relief pitching as leverage increases. Minus Pressly and Smith (it doesn't take much to realize when to pitch those 2 guys), here's the Astros relief pitchers' performance (xERA, minimum 10 innings) versus the league as leverage increases. ERA, FIP, xFIP show a similar story. With Pressly and Smith, the Astros line is flat.

I think Correa's been pretty good this year and if he stays healthy could end up with 4.5-6 WAR by season's end. I don't know why so many Astros fans hate him now.

I see people on twitter b**** about him incessantly and argue that he'll be "lucky" to get an offer equal to the lowball offer Click gave him. Laughable considering how he has performed so far this season.

I'm still shocked at how terrible a decision it was to pitch to Garcia in that situation. Just flabbergasting that a MLB manager would willingly put his team in that position.

Because he was supposed to be what Tatis has been offensively. That's why people are disappointed.

Among players with enough ABs to qualify for leader boards he is 12th in OPS for shortstops. Then guys like Tatis will be above him as well once he gets enough ABs to qualify.

Astros can't pay the 13th-15th best hitting SS superstar money. Also, Marcus Semien is playing 2B but having a great offensive year and far outpacing Correa. So that's really another guy that will be on the SS market in the offseason that is outperforming Correa by a wide margin.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Astros make a run at Semien as I don't see them shelling out the money for Story, Correa, or Baez. However, Correa is a better defender (+30 OAA since 2017 for Correa vs -14 for Semien since 2017) and has generally been a better hitter than Semien. Even this season Correa has a higher xwOBA than Semien so it would not surprise me if Correa ends up out performing Semien offensively this season. 2019 was the only season where Semien appeared to break through offensively but retreated to his typical average offensive profile in 2020.

Absolutely. He just hasn't earned top dollar at all. Not worth signing up for that contract for an decent to above average SS.

No shortstop in the history of the league has outperformed Correa in the post season including Jeter. Correa having an average plays in our favor because it may mean we can afford him once the season is over.

I'm sure part of the reason why fans hate Correa is that he hasn't been the second coming of A-Rod, but that's a pretty absurd standard to hold him to. I mean, if Alvarez ends up being a 130-150 wRC+ hitter instead of a 170-190 wRC+ hitter are fans going to hate him too?

Correa's biggest issue as a player has been staying healthy. For instance, he's put about the same WAR/PA as Lindor, but he's only been about 2/3 as valuable as Lindor since reaching the majors due to his injuries.

Superstar money is based on the regular season. See Mike Trout.

If Pablo Sandoval got paid only based on his playoff numbers he would have gotten way more than 95 million from the Red Sox.

    338 AVG, .386 OBP, .921 OPS

Yes.. fans will pile on. See this thread a few pages ago. Calls for him to be dropped in the lineup because of his 0-11 slump. Someone else complained that they got used to him hitting bombs every few games in 2019 and now he isn't the same. Fans are more emotional than logical. So yea, if he isn't what he showed in 2019 there will be some "hate".

He's also streaky AF. Thank god, many of his hot streaks have been in the post season. When he's feeling sexy, there are very few in the history of baseball better.

4-2 now and looks like they're threatening in the 8th right now.

Update, some guy named Swanson came in and struckout the side.
