Not according to the search function. Last year someone posted that Framber may be the Astros Greg Maddux. There was no further discussion about it.

How great was Yuli’s at-bat? I kept thinking of the general difficulty in getting 3+ hits in a game, then to have to do it with 2 outs, 2 strikes, up a single run in the seventh. Barely nicks the ball to stay alive. Then knocks it off the wall to drive in two runs. He’s on another level right now.

I don't disagree. At some point results need to matter.

I think Emanuel's ability to throw strikes should earn him some higher leverage opportunities. So annoying when you bring on a new reliever and he walks the leadoff hitter.

Astros have scored 3+ runs in 18 straight games and have 8+ hits in 16 straight.

Meanwhile, the rest of MLB is experiencing the most no-hitters since before 1900.

Well, it's just 3 teams that have been getting no hit so not like the other top teams are struggling. Semi-related note since they have been no hit twice, Mariners have a team BA of .198...that's just impressive to be that bad after 44 games lol

Greg Maddux was great at working umpires to get the low outside ball called a strike. Without that skill, he would have been a journeyman pitcher.

Pedro has been retired for 12 years, so it's not THAT far fetched.

I'm glad Yuli is doing well. I'm glad Tucker is beginning to get the hits he deserves after so many well hit balls were getting outs. I'm just waiting for Bregman to go from above average to superstar again.

So are you saying the Stros will never be fully healthy for one game this season?

I believe this is the highest avg Bregs has had at this time of year.

Hopefully he has a typical Bregs 2nd half. If that happens Bregs will be a MVP candidate.

    Don't forget about Correa going from a 50-mil player to a 300.

I never say never... (oops) but the probability is remote. The chances of Verlander donning an Astros Jersey as an active pitcher alone is remote.

Throwing strikes really isn't that hard. Throwing strikes that batters can't hit is a bit more difficult.

I like Correa almost as much as I did Adam Everett. If he'd taken the last offer, he might even passed Everett.

Every time I complain about Luis Garcia and his ridiculous wind-up I get several responses explaining to me why he is actually really good.

Greg Maddux is one of the greatest pitchers of all time. Without that skill, he would have adapted his approach and still been incredible.

The only place where Correa is a $300M player is between his ears.

Garcia's main problem is being more efficient with his pitches. Other than that, he has been a very solid pitcher over his 47 inning, 13 game ML career.

Who has said he is "really good? You've already gone from people saying he was Martinez (no one did), to people saying he was Maddux (no one did) and now your are at "really good".

My comments to you on one of your 2 "Garcia with the funky windup is starting" posts have dealt with what's not to be optimistic about based on his minor league stats and his small sample sized ML performances. That's a far cray from saying he is "really good".

I remember it very differently. He was very hittable when they actually made him throw strikes. But they usually started out giving him low and away balls and he kept moving it further away and lower. He would never make it in today's video strike Zone era. By the end of his stint, he could throw it in the dirt a foot off the plate and they would call it a strike.
