These late games kill me. I did halfway wake up in the 9th, looked at the score and went back to bed happy. Falling asleep in the 5th up 2-1 while leaving runners on was worrisome. Bring on the day game!
This is a weird ribbing considering Abreu lost a game working into his 4th inning between Emanuel appearances the night before.
Terrific win last night err this morning... Can't wait to see Luis Garcia football today! 4.2 ip 1er 4k 3bb and leaves with 2 runners on and everyone will act like he's Pedro Martinez! Let's just get this series W
Not Pedro, but pretty good for an eighth starter... Depth Chart 1. Greinke 2. Odorizzi 10 day IL 3. Javier 4. McCullers 5. Urquidy 10 day IL 6. Verlander 60 day IL 7. Valdez 10 day IL 8. Garcia 9. Ivey MiL callup
Series has been reflective of the season so far, A's win a game that was close(r) and tight(er than it should have been) where the Astros left a lot of guys on base and the bullpen was not confidence-inspiring. Good guys won the blowout game. Added 6 to our run differential and have made up no ground in the standings That's baseball... Go 'stros!
I would make some adjustments to the order, but the point is that that he's been reliably available when half the staff has not. THAT is why he's in the rotation.
It's also baseball that we think about players getting healthy and what our line-up and rotation will look like without realizing that other players will also get unhealthy and come out of the line-up.
With the 8 spot last night, the Astros "inconsistent" offense is now 1st in runs per game and OPS, and we're 2nd in run differential. Had the covid incident not shut down half our offense for a spell we would probably have the best record in baseball right now. Team still has areas to improve upon, and some significant potential reinforcements on the DL, but even without them we're in extremely good shape right now.
