Baez has a shoulder issue, is on the 60-day DL, and he had no spring training. I wouldn’t hold my breath that he’s back at any point... let alone ready to take all the high leverage innings. Scrubb, minus his awful 0-2 pitch on Sunday, is going to probably be Dusty’s favorite reliever for the next 2 or so weeks.
It's not like there's a better option. No matter who we put in that situation, there's question marks. Stanek is supposed to be our clear 2nd best reliever in the pen, and even he couldn't throw strikes (at least this ump's definition of a strike when Astros are pitching).
This. We score 7 runs easy if Carlos knew how to hit. Dusty getting cute and bringing in Paredes was headscratching. And then HPU literally calling a different strike zone the last 1-2 innings. And straw is an actual liability in the field. No arm, no awareness, no tracking ability, little catching ability. Click needs to solve this issue.
I just didn’t think Paredes should be gifted that opportunity with the entire pen available... not with the sort of season he’s put together thus far.
Losing is losing but when the bullpen Fs up, it stings more. Add the umps squeezing these inconsistent relievers.
The abundant injuries to our starters (JV included) isn't helping. We could move a current one to the bullpen for multi-inning relief appearances instead of trying to piecemeal **** together with a bunch of suspect options.
You don't have to be totally negative every time anything goes wrong, or hell for the last few years you've excelled in preemptive negativity. That's no way to be. Make a joke or something.
AH HA! You gave me **** once for calling him Zach (instead of Zack), and here you are throwing out "Presley".
Maybe by the time Abreu blows his 52nd game of the season Dusty will stop using him like he's Octavio Dotel.
Picket fences after the 5th inning isn't a good recipe for an easy win on the road. Go get 'em tomorrow, err today.
Banged out 13 hits and still lose that hurts. What even hurts more is that none of the A's volume at-bat hitters are hitting above. 267. They are winning when it matters, but they are skating on thin ice. Pressley should of pitch 9th because 10th inning is a toss-up.
Agreed. Very frustrating but these things due tend to even out over time. Very rare for the teams that rely on one-run wins and clutch hits to hold up for 162. We already saw it starting to turn over the last two weeks, and if we had won last night we'd be in 1st place. I have faith that a month from now we will be solidly in first (though next two weeks might go the other direction given how brutal the schedule is).
