What do people think about alt coins? V.1 [discussion]

In a liquidity crisis would my deposit be temporarily or permanently unavailable?

 

Speaking Blockfi, if there was a permanent loss, the whole crypto space would be in big trouble. The chance is there, but it's small. Some of the complaints are people's funds disappear and exchanges state the user was hacked, not the exchange. This should be your biggest fear, however this is a problem with any dealings on an exchange.

As mentioned frequently, when the market heads south, exchanges often go offline or very difficult to navigate or withdraw.

There needs to be more regulations.

Always expect the unexpected. One minute you're apeing into a hype coin and the next minute you have elon musk threatening to liquidate his bitcoin holdings laying waste to your position.... then blaming the guy who has nothing to do with the cryptospace.

 

Yeah, anything named CryptoMoonShots is something I really don't think I'm going to get any impartial info from.

 

SUSHI has no business down at #60 market cap.

There are a shitload of tethers being printed without fully being backed by a hard asset. Bitcoin also involved as a collateral swap where the same bitcoin is passed around 10x+ times.

OTOH, blockfi did survive last march when BTC cratered to 3k. Not sure how they pulled that off but many other lending companies like them did not survive.

 

the alternative is the defi route. He could lend on Compuound or Aave and so on. There’s smart contract risk, but no counter party risk like block fi. All loans are over collateralized. The main ones are well established and considered safe by most in the space. When the bull run is over I’ll likely spread the bulk of my money around in these.

Low cap defi token with gem potential that is a good buy right now imo is Rari Capital RGT. New and had an exploit a couple weeks ago that drove price down 50%, but they handled it responsibly and it should recover. Whale @tetranode is involved in the project and has promised to buy all sells under $10 to create a floor lol.

is this a reaction to interest rate fears? elon is part of the noise, but it looks bigger than that.

 

Mostly it's correction time. In a classic Stock Market situation, there's an old adage 'Sell in May and go away' but it's crypto so not sure if that applies.

 

Apparently a **** ton of GBTC unlocks are happening right now. People that bought 6 months ago to harvest the Grayscale premium are now able to sell.

Or maybe it was just time to correct a bit. Can’t have 1000% gains without some drawdown along the way.

 

Look at something like the 7-day chart on most of these crypto and it's hilarious how border-line identical they are.
