Lots and lots of blown opportunities to crack the game wide open, but we won. That's all that matters for last night. :)

So you're seriously telling a guy hitting .350 with a 1000 OPS to "do better".

Myles Straw is doing a whole lot better if that's your offensive barometer.

Yordan is awesome, but are you seriously saying 4-33 doesn't completely suck?

Altuve isn't Altuve unless he improved his

I thought this was a misprint, but it's right. He's having a weird year then. Regardless, if you are batting a .350 with a .997 OPS don't listen to idiot fans complaining about your walks.

It will play out. Clearly he’s got the right mindset up there with how pitchers are attacking him.

5th in the AL in OPS. "Get better".

Scary thing is that's only 23. Altuve at that age was .283/.316/.363. If he can stays healthy, he's going to compete for MVPs for the next decade.

I guess having the best OPS through his first 115 games EVER is just not up to some people’s standards

Don’t change a thing. Could care less if he hits .350

You're looking a raw number without looking deeper to see if there's something to be alarmed about.

Yordan isn't striking out more (a tad less actually) and he's seeing more pitches per PA this season. If we look back and Yordan has fallen to pieces because pitchers are attacking a sudden lack of plate discipline (which isn't an issue right now) then we can tell him to do better. As is, he's simply putting the ball in play more, and doing it to great effect.

He still is a patient hitter with a great eye, and he's a beast, so him attacking strikes instead of trying to work a walk is perfectly OK.

44th in strikeouts in the AL... 70th overall in the MLB... um... I would rather have him hit doubles than get walks.

Alvarez's drop in walks looks almost all to be bad calls, randomness, and on the pitchers forcing him to swing (this does not seem like a good strategy on their part). He's getting the same % of called strikes in the zone. He's just getting strikes called twice as often on pitches out of the zone, and getting a lot fewer balls out of the zone called balls as a result.

Though his walk rate being this low would normally be very worrisome. It still is slightly as umps tend to be very generous to pitchers against big guys.

But what is a walk other than four pitches that missed the umpire's daily created zone

Better to strike out than hit into a DP. Better to hit a single than to walk.
