#BTSOOR Hope Javier and Greinke have bounce back games while Garcia manages to pick up his first win and McCullers continues to pitch well at MMP. Go 'stros!!
lol, they’re only 2.5 games back of us right now. They’re not that bad. We’re the ones massively underplaying our run differential.
We got swept by the Tigers and loss the two games against the Rockies. We win these games we're 25-12.
3 games off our expected W/L Twins -4, Stros -3 and A's +5 (A's also MLB best 9-3 in 1-run games) are the outliers in the AL. Also, since I was looking at the standings I just noticed that the Stros have played 23 division games and the A's have played 7.
True, but the fact remains that by their record and run-diff they're not terrible. And the good guys are only a handful of games ahead. It could be some reasonably competitive games.
No I agree with it possibly being a competitive series. I was talking long term for the season. Every other AL West team has a negative run diff. The Astros have one if the best in the league so the records should eventually start to reflect that. The other teams have been pulling out wins and those almost always even out
The Rangers are also top 10 in position WAR so it hasn't been all smoke and mirrors either. Adolis Garcia is looking like an excellent pickup for them with how he has played so far this season.
That's crazy! I haven't seen them this year, but their best players prior to the season looked like Gallo plus 2 guys that the Rays traded away to ease up a 40-man roster crunch.
It's interesting that the Astros had to play through losing the heart of their lineup and other teams get to just postpone any series where they might be down a player or two. Different rule for different teams. But hey! THAT's not cheating.
It's funny how straight-up average they are. They're league average on offense, league average on the mound, and league average defensively. They're an average team with an average record who have played a good 2 week stretch of ball coming into this series. Gibson's been fantastic on the mound though, Sunday should be a fun matchup.
I was looking at their stats as well, seeing what stood out. Nothing really did. Like you say, middle of the pack in most areas. They have been better lately. Hope we don't fall asleep on these guys.
