Pitchers are different making overall generalizations tough.

Though for every other day, I can almost guarantee the answer would be 1 or less inning, for pitchers in general.

I think they will need to figure out ways to determine fatigue on an individual basis. Sometimes, a guy might not need rest. Sometimes, he might need two days.

MLB umps becoming as bad as the corrupt NBA refs. And some of these calls are going to replay/challenged and are being upheld. All around awful.

They need to get this ump together with the ump that called the Brewers pitcher for obstruction to discuss their two calls and see if they agree with each other's egregiously wrong calls.

    F the dumb @$$ Yankees!!!

They were so concerned about their signs being stolen and what did they do about it??

Did they change them up like most teams do?
Even if they had to change them up every inning.

Also they were cheating as well and it's pathetic that MLB won't release the report on their findings. If they didn't do anything wrong why aren't they releasing and why the need to get a court order to keep it from being released??

“I think there’s still a cloud hanging over [the franchise],” Kevin Goldstein, who worked for the Astros’ baseball operations department from 2012 until 2020 and now writes for FanGraphs, said last week in a telephone interview. “It took all the fun out of it.”

“It’s there. It’s omnipresent on some level,” Goldstein said of, naturally, the scandal. “I don’t know how the team can capture a spirit of joy again that extends beyond the team. The fan base is reduced to a very local [base]. The energy and the vibe of that club was really interesting and attractive, and the national footprint disappeared.”

The 2020 playoffs were fun... more fun than 2018 before the “joy was taken away!”.

I really do wonder if they think replay will alleviate the risk of being flat-out wrong... even though IIRC, obstruction or runners interference calls are not reviewable.

Right.. those were judgement calls. But they were both poor judgment. MLB and the umpire union needs to become more transparent. That obstruction call in the Brewers pitcher was one of the more egregiously bad calls I've ever seen.

If the batter took the exact same path to the bag on a bunt to the catcher and the catcher hit him in the back with the throw, the batteer would have must likely been called out.

Wasn't a perfect game due to a wild pitch on a strikeout with the runner reaching first but that runner was caught stealing.

And had the K and caught stealing not occurred, we have no idea what would have happened the rest of the game.

Everybody is confused after an Angel Hernandez call goes against the Cleveland Indians in Kansas City

However, the play that led to the game’s second run caused raised eyebrows, on-field confusion, a harsh assessment of umpiring crew chief Angel Hernandez from Indians manager Terry Francona and a fairly stunning admission from Hernandez that he “guessed” on his call.

“No. No,” Francona said when asked about protesting the game. “I just kind of told Angel ‘Why’s it always happening when you’re here?’ It’s aggravating, but I don’t think there was anything we could do. Believe me, I was thinking about it, I didn’t know.”

“What are they going to review? We knew it wasn’t a catch,” Francona went on to say. “Everybody I think knew it but Angel.”

Francona’s primary source of frustration was Benintendi having been awarded third base, but Benintendi did not end up scoring in the inning. He was left stranded on third.

“They said they put him where they thought he would have been,” Francona said. “... I’ve got to look at the rule. If the baserunner doesn’t actually attempt to get there, I’m not sure how you give him that base. But I was so mad at him that I didn’t even bring that up, and it probably wouldn’t have mattered.”

So how's that work. If another team picks him up do they take on the rest of his contract or is it a separate contract?

If they pick him up within 10 days, they get the rest of the contract. If not, it is a separate contract.
