Lose and win for the Stros. A's, Mariners and Angels all lose, most importantly the Dodgers. Had leads in the 10th and 11th, they were 13-2 at one time Try again Thursday and curse the Spankees.
Get Baez and Framber back and add Solomon. Bullpen Pressly Stanek Garcia Taylor Emmanuel Solomon Baez Smith Bielak
I'm overly critical of him bc he hasn't pitched in a game that we have won all year. 0-6 now. I realize that's not technically his fault, but I don't care. Also, can't stand "starters" going less than 5. You gotta find a way to get 5+ most games. Either suck it up, take one for the team, and eat innings, or don't be a starter.
Where is Paredes? I know he's been wild AF in a small sample size this year, but I wouldn't mind having him back.
Yankees steroid users named in the Mitchell Report on 12/13/07: The years in parenthesis indicate the years the players were on a World Series winning Yankees team. Ricky Bones (1996) Kevin Brown Jose Conseco (2000) Roger Clemens (2000) Bobby Estalella Jason Giambi Jason Grimsley (2000) Glenallen Hill (2000) Darren Holmes (1998) David Justice (2000) Chuck Knoblauch (1998, 1999, 2000) Josias Manzanillo Hal Morris Daniel Naulty (1999) Denny Neagle (2000) Andy Pettitte ('96, '98, '99, '00) Gary Sheffield Mike Stanton ('98, '99, '00) Randy Velarde Ron Villone Rondell White Todd Williams So these four World Series wins are tainted: 1996 Yankees 4 Braves 2 1998 Yankees 4 Padres 0 1999 Yankees 4 Atlanta 0 2000 Yankees 4 Mets 0 2000 seems like the most juiced World Series in history.
I admit Correa was a cheater. Chris Correa. The one that ended up in federal prison for corporate espionage on behalf of the Cardinals. Also another example in which the media says it was a lone wolf and not the franchise at fault...
Umm, this series has sucked so far. If we lose 150 games, as long as those 12 wins are against the Yankees and Dodgers I can take it. By all means, drub these clowns mercilessly. For the love of all that's good in this world, beat these clowns 32-0 today.
A win against Cole would feel more meaningful than just 1 win... but chances are its another game similar to the other two (close early... then a battle of the pens late).
Pressly Stanek Baez Garcia- has the stuff and can throw multiple innings. Paredes- I forgot about him Taylor- Hopefully he can get back to where he was last year after he gets back from injury. Emmanuel- Is a very promising LHP, would you rather see him or Raley? Solomon- would you rather see another promising young arm or see Abreu (Who while promising lacks control of his breaking ball so you cant trust him or Smith on the mound. The way I see it is you have 5 arms you can trust if healthy Pressly Stanek Parades Baez Garcia And 3 promising young guys Taylor Emmanuel Solomon
I don't see them giving up on Abreu... but maybe not throw him multiple innings, back to back games. Let him work on his stuff/sequencing. Needs to have the desire to improve. Get him with Framber's life coach as well.
On Abreu, not sure if he would be better, but his arm is jello right now. He could use 3-4 days rest or an IL stint. At this point, any runs he gives up should be charged to Dusty. Bielak..his cutter isn't good, but it kept batters guessing on his fastball. He's beginning to rely on his 4S a lot like last year, and I'm very worried he's about to get shelled. Repeatedly. Raley, at some point this season, he will strand a runner. I think he'll figure things out at some point this season, though I'd like his role reduced to lower leverage until he gets the kinks worked out. I think Smith is done as well. Definitely missing heathy Paredes and Taylor, though Paredes needs to throw strikes and Taylor needs to figure out what's wrong with his slider (is he tipping? velocity too low? lost command?). On Emanuel, I want to see more, too. He looks like a BoR guy with sinker, change, slider mix that generates a ton of grounders. Not a very Astro like guy, That said, he slapped TB batters around out of the pen like a closer. He can't be this good? I want to see more Solomon. It almost looks like Click is holding back some guys in minors to limit innings and protect against even more starter injuries. Astros probably will need to trade some relievers at some point this season to open up space for better pitchers coming off the IL, from the minors, and hopefully externally as well. The pen will look a lot better when Garcia is back there.
Nice post, I'm with you. Seems like every time I look at a game in the 6th inning either Raley or Abreu are pitching. I don't want to turn this into a manager referendum, but I'm pretty down on Dusty at the moment.
