While folks are not surprised Patrick would get upgraded, think maybe some thought he'd more interested on the Basketball side. This tells me that they like Stone as GM. For Patrick to ascend to the next position... CEO: (both basketball and the Ops side). There's really no where else to go after this. Putting a family member as CEO, if Tilman wants something done (a big decision with the Rockets), there's less convicing of a CEO (tad brown), or GM (daryl); the Son and Fertittas era appointed GM: Stone, would go straight ahead and do it. Rockets currently has the league's worst record. Do the Fertittas think they're better off saving the team by being more involved?

CyberX is the man and is very accurate so this is not in any way a slight, but I don't believe Patrick is going to be the new CEO. I don't know who will be but my money is on Gretchen Sheirr. Btw, I've honestly heard nothing but great things about Patrick.
This can be good,the reason is ,he doesn't have to make all the big decisions, he can hire like 2 top tier advisors and let them council him along the way.
While this is encouraging, another internal promotion isn't really indicative of Tilman casting a wide net to find the best possible candidate. Do you know if the Fertittas have been looking outside of the organisation at all?
