We need all the intelligent and sensible opinions, perspectives on here, especilaly with people with access to the organization. This only ADDs to the value and community of CF. Trolls are all over, critics are all over, disagreements are all over, but anyone with an intelligent perspective and a sensible argument is of STRONG value here...keep it coming Cat.
If anybody is struggling at this time of great despair. Go to your bathroom and apply icyhot straight to your balls. You'll stop reading the garm.
I actually like Patrick. He interacts with people on Twitter. He loves the city. He wants to win. He understands the rebuilding process and knows what it is going to take- patience. He’s also young enough to relate to a lot of these young guys. I say we give the young man a chance.
It doesn't work like that, most rich people hire someone to be the fall guy. We have a rookie GM and a rookie coach, but we also had a highly regarded in demand GM in Morey, and he spent the last 3 years all of a sudden doing gymnastics to get us under the cap. In the end they have to do their job and answer to the top, its much better PR as so many people will blame morey ,harden bc tillman said "we WenT all In" while lying to our face, but they answer to someone, we gotta respect that, they also get paid millions to be the fall guy. Nba jobs are HARD To get, likewise with media jobs as the cat, its more nuanced than we think and you have to keep relationships. NBA i've learned more than any other billion dollar business is run more like a series of mom and pops still rather than some corporate structures. I place 0 blame on our rookie GM. But his interview of saying judge me in 10 years, don't work like that buddy, I'm still paying for 10 years of rockets merchandise, mediocre food and beer, and losing my voice every damn game. 10 ears of us making tilly millions of revenue and we are supposed to shut up and listen....nah, not in Texas.
Plus he knows the shortest route to Funky Town, if you know what I mean! The kid is a dance sensation, which is yet another reason why I’m glad to have him as the new CEO.
This is not personal against patrick what so ever my man. I'm sure hes a nice kid. But this is a professional organization and the status quo in teh nba or even professional sports who do these type of moves that tilman has pulled is rivaled with very few, and its not good. It isn't good when our respected CEO, GM, Ass Gm, HC, Associate HC, stars, and vets or anyone who has clout all left money on the table to get the hell out of a great city for NBA players. I've got no bone with STone and Silas, I like em both, but we really went with the cheapest rookie options and expected harden to take 100 million and shut up and listen, make profits on their backs while cheapening down on the margins. I get the business side, thats why its a billionaires game, thats why its a legacy buy and the new age owners now, buying in the billions even in markets like utah are all paying up, bc thats the par. Tilly shouldn't get in the kitchen if he can't handle the heat. Do you really think and buy that james harden relates to Patrick Fertitta. the people born on third base, think they hit a triple? I do hope he does well, I think it can workout well, but its just not a good look. Steve Balmer came in and right away doubled Jerry west pay and brought him to the clippers, having a steady hand who has clout in the nba would help us fans, but we've been cheaping out from non headline moves from the start. I hope the kid does well, because now the rockets are in their families hands. but I'm not going to be blinded to this junk while I continue to pay up and live as a rockets fans. This isn't a shut up and listen monarchy. The guy is 25 I think, wish he had more time to shadow real execs and learn, and the 3 years since hes been here morey's moves have all 90 percent been to save money, water down the margins, ignore assets that he himself accumulated and spoke about in his interviews(TPE, Bird rights etc) I hope they turn the corner and I wish Patty all the success in the world bc I will never stop rooting for my city and team, but as an objective fan Tilman's move and tenure has been a slap on the face, all while every year except this one he raised prices on us
He's a very sensible kid. He worked his way up, started as a scout, would hire in reputable guys like Masai. Paid up for talent and they took a mid market in denver and have done amazing. He also played college ball, he had some experience. By any account one of the more humble execs and he took his TIME to get there. But here we are, I wish the best for the rockets always, but these last 3 years have been tough to swallow and a slap in the face for paying customers
yea its quite a test and wierd guise of loyalty. So many people have said if you critisize or are objective about the rockets that you aren't a true fan or something. i will always root for the rockets, always want whats best for em but while I give my time, money, extension and watch a new owner who embarassingly is a fellow houstonian cheapen our brand, we're supposed to shut up and listen under the guise of loyalty? Don't work like that in Texas
Not sure how he tastes but I’d imagine no where as good as you’re wife. Someone remind me... when was the last time we won a Championship? Oh, 1995? 26 years ago right? This is a team that has hit ****ing rock bottom and is in position to rebuild with potentially multiple draft picks and a bunch of grown men are crying about Tilman handpicking his son as CEO when we haven’t won a god damn thing in 26 years. I’d love to revisit this thread and I swear to God I’ll bump it as soon as we win a ring and then YOU can tell me how Patrick tastes because if we win a ring I bet you’ll be the first one on your knees bruh.
Just ease up on the personal stuff (not saying you, specifically). That's all I was trying to say earlier in the thread. If somebody disagrees with an opinion of mine, that's totally fine, let's discuss it. All I'm pushing back on is the labeling, insults, and ad-hominem attempts to go after the messenger, rather than the message.
Yep, I don't even blame the dude for consolidating all the depth to get this team. I'd do it too, it was a fellow houstonian so I was rooting for the guy even. I figure as a fan you know how much this means to our fan base, our community, our city, loyalist for a long LONG time, but I sure as hell wouldn't disrespect the fans as I cheapen out everything, continue to lie and disrespect to their face every chance I get, and then at the cost of myself cheapen and ruing something that is a part of this city, that isn't like any other privately owned business . Then I'd take some bitter ****ing Landry's Humble pie and get in some other owners rather than insisting on owning sit straight He says he regularly turns down offers of $1 billion for 50% of the Rockets" https://www.forbes.com/sites/christ...nts-casinos-and-his-nba-team/?sh=3c926a327015 Disrespecting our city, our rockets brand, our history, paying customers who give their time, loyalty despite what you or Les did. At one point you have to realize this ain't about you as an owner the most you can offer is finances, if you're going to plaster your face on the wall, back it the F up
Agree 100%, I've felt even when disagreements you gave a sensible drawn out opinion and a sincere response. There are a lot of perspectives and answers and if we shout down anyone who might not do it our way, we're no better than the infamous Shut up and Listen Author. You're an actual writer, have the twitter following, I'm sure you've dealt with the bottom of the barrel BS. But in any case I think the majority respect and want writers and people with intelligent opinions, agreed upon or not, and can make an argument on here. It adds to CF.
Are you serious? A search firm recommended him? That's one of the most laughable statements I've ever read here.
Ha, I really wish Tilman's dream was being a singer. Knicks fans got lucky that their Clownshow Owner forces his energies towards music
