    @rocketsjudoka

    I know the media wants to paint it all as 'Racism'
    @real_egal

    but there are other elements to this. Especially in the larger hot cities like NYC and Oakland.
    The common factor is that the people doing the attacks have had criminal records and are out of jail.

    I understand it costs money to put criminals in jail, but that seems to be a different topic, but the majority of these people are criminals.

    Yea the racism card is used terribly,.

    It cost a lot of money to jail people, thats why its absolutely idiotic and backward that we have non violent offenders there. That we're paying 30-80k bc some people smoked a join, which 3/4 presidents can laugh about, yet the economics don't work well. We lose their potential tax payers, despite the imagei of 'stoners, just like beer drinkers or anything else you want to f'n do in america, you can get by. Let alone the economic cost of how that affects your family if someone loses a mother,brother, father, son, daugther, its hard to measure how that affects your ability to eduate, how that affects your ability to create in come, how that causes an income and family dynamic to suffer socially and economically.

    Then we spend some hundreds of billions to enfroce this. Does that not take away from many power to fight actual crime as you cited? Let alone, just like if you made alcohol illegal, it doesn't take away demand, it moves it to the black market. Which is where gangs make their money, imagine cutting majority of their income. Let alone the ability to tax it and keep it in the community and keep it safer. Then how would that improve police/community relations i they were'nt hassling them of trivial stuff, imagine each time you had a drink a cop is on your tail?

    Almost every single economic aspect of it hasn't made sense from the very start to make it a criminal matter.

    Violent offenders should be the priority. Those cases are absolute outrages, I agree with you.

    Video shows stranger attacking Asian woman with hammer in NYC
    The woman was hit in the head by someone who demanded the victim remove her mask, police said. A woman with the victim was not injured in the attack.

    out for no reason is right, also its a matter of economics, prison beds are a scarce source despite america putting more money, resources and space for our prisons than most of the developed world. Part of that is we continue to have senseless,frivolous laws for non violent offenders when the priority first and foremost should always be violent offenders, abuses, repeat offenders. WE waste so much tax payer money resources, law enforcement energy, brain power, time, efforts on these matters that just tear a community apart.
