1. Win the lottery. 2. Exercise Bradley's option and trade him to the Pels for 2 of their 4 second round picks. 3. Draft Cade Cunningham, Moses Moody and Charles Bassey in the first and Bones Hyland and Scottie Lewis in the second 4. Re-sign Nwaba, Brooks and Olynyk to 2 year deals with team option for 3rd (expiring the same off-season as Wall, Gordon and Wood) PG: Wall/Augustin/Hyland (RGV) SG: KPJ/Gordon/Moody/Brooks SF: Cade/Tate/Nwaba/Lewis (RGV) PF: Olynyk/Martin C: Wood/Bassey
Lol we already have overpaid assets we can't even get rid of. Gordon and tank commander wall... please stop this nonsense
1. John Wall decides to leave money on the table and retire. 2. Rockets win the lottery and draft Cunningham. 3. John Wall decides to leave money on the table and retire.
There are a lot of places he can go where the owner doesnt have a reputation of cheaping out even during a championshi window. Players talk. Harden and Leonard both grew up in LA. Leonard just dealt with an organization that is well regarded and didn't like it in the spurs, he isn't going to deal with shut up and listen author cheaping out and wasting his talent. We got great young pieces, but they are young pieces. A win now vet, let aloen a 1a star after what fertitta just put isn't showing up. Not only is our team young, Our Gm is a rookie, as is our coach. Vets aren't coming here to win. We may get guys coming for more minutes and touches, but no 1A star is going to goto this experiment with Fertitta's reputation and then two rookie managers/staff who he can walk over just as he did with Morey. We lost all of our top staff and players for a reason. We're a rebuilding project with some exciting young talent. We're not winning a ring soon. John wall looked good at times, but he also hasn't played in 2 years before this and didn't play in half the games here. He didn't exactly lift his value given the cost of his contract. I'm hopeful for the pick, I'll take anything in the top 4 and be happy. We got excitement with some of our young talent and most likely we'll be building on them and staying close to the tax floor. Tillman didn't spend during our window with generational talent and vet managers, he isn't going to next year let alone he took even more high interest loans and even personally asked the president on video that he wouldn't survive if he couldn't dip into the govt help for small businesses.
Receive all (3) 1st round picks: currently #1, #20 and #24. Draft: Cade Cunningham (#1)......Jared Butler (#20)........Charles Bassey (#24) Trade: Exum (SnT), Augustin, Avery Bradley, DJ Wilson, D House, Nwaba (SnT), Sterling Brown (SnT).....if any bites Target in trade: Aaron Baynes, (1-yr non guaranteed $7M).......others possibly (see trade baits above line) Re-sign Olynyk Roster PG) Wall.........................................Jared Butler SG) Porter jr.................................Eric Gordon / Armoni Brooks SF) Cade Cunningham................Tate / K Martin jr PF) Wood......................................Olynyk C) Olynyk...................................... Aaron Baynes / Bassey Possibly Nerlens Noel......every one shoots 3's except Nerlens and hopefully KM jr can improve over the off season. Baynes will get plenty of open 3's. Bounce back year while with us. 35 though next season. I need a defensive PG because Porter and Cade are terrible at guarding smaller PG's. Therefore I drafted Butler. Augustin is great for the offense as a vet but too slow defensively for our needs moving forward. Gary Payton may be a free agent option. Plenty of Nets first round picks in the future to try to improve on what we got. Maybe.
I assume you'd take DR at market rate, which is ~4y/72m using Bogdanovic and Joe Harris as comparisons. I also assume it would take 4/80-85m for MIA not to match. If we get him for nothing at 22m/year, then by next trade deadline, why wouldn't a capped out playoff team that cant afford him this offseason try to get him later? Especially if they have an unfavorable contract that could be turned into DR for the price of future draft capital. Picks+Kuzma, picks+ Morris or Kennard, picks+ Wiggins, picks+ Steven Adams come to mind. That said, Dallas will probably do exactly this and keep him.
I stopped reading at "trade John Wall with 3 #1's" That's a nightmare scenario , not an ideal offseason.
1. Get a top-4 pick 2. Not trade away picks to get rid off bad contracts. We need to keep Wall’s contract preferably till 2023 trade deadline and use it to match salary for a star player (add Nets picks as needed). 3. If possible, trade EG for positive value. If not possible, keep him. 4. Re-sign KO, ideally with only a 2-year commitment. Overpay if needed. Eg a 2y/$32m contract is preferable to a 4y/$52m one. Best outcome would be a declining 4-year contract with TO in years 3&4. We need KO as a player to help establish a winning culture and as a contract to trade. Re-signing your free agents on tradable terms is a key way to get better in the NBA once you are over the cap. 5. If there is any cap room left, take a flyer on high-upside, undervalued players, but no major long-term commitments that may hamper us down the line. 6. Tell Wall that he is a bench player from now on. If he doesn’t like it, let him stay away from the team. Don’t buy him out, we will need his contract in 12-18 months. 7. Get ready for the tank. Aim for 20-25 wins max. A top-5 pick is our main priority next year. Rest players if needed to get there. 8. Keep Silas. His main duty is to give the kids time and develop their skills. Replace him only if he cannot stand up to Wall, EG. Our goal is to reach the summer of 2023 with the following assets: - 2 expiring borderline all-star players in Wood and KPJ (agree extensions earlier, but formalize in the summer to have cap space) - 2 potential star players on rookie scale (2021 top-4 and 2022 top-5 picks) - 1 all-star level player from a Wall + Nets picks trade - Cap space for 1 max slot (Wood, KO, EG expirings/TOs should be enough to get us there) - 3 useful rotational players in Tate, KMJ, + similar young low-contract player we sign over the next two years. - MLE/BAE/ Vet min slots
Lol you think cheap owner Tillman would offer that kinda money? Aren't we over the cap anyways? How do you propose us opening up cap space?
Your #2 is i think the likely plan, but if a free agent is interested sooner because of you draft Cade and Porter/Wood then you would give up the same package to sign someone too... end result is the same...
I'm not throwing 3 first round picks away to dump Wall's contract at all. You gotta understand that no team can absorb his contract and would have to send back $35,448,672 to make the money work. There's no fantasy world where the Clippers Wall or the $35.4m in junk salary from a 3rd team and send you Kawhi.
Not sure if that works because players will have cap holds prior to extensions... depends on the numbers....
The Knicks have space... clippers might consider it if Wall has 1 year left and they can get back some picks they unloaded to get George... this was obviously predicated on the assumption of kawhi leaving and the clippers not having max space to replace him.... Not sure what your criticism is about... saying something could happen isn't saying it's likely...
