There is a lot to be said about colonizing Titan but the fact that it is so far away makes it very problematic. Mars and the Moon as noted have a lot of problems but colonization of those wouldn't necessarily be right on the surface. As shown in several Sci-Fi movies most of a Moon base would be underground where the population can be shielded from radiation. A Mars base could also be significantly underground too.

No where else in the Solar System is going to be easy for humans to colonize. We are literally evolutionarily (or Intelligently Designed if you prefer) made for the Earth. We can't survive yet long term just a hundred miles above the surface. Anywhere else we try to settle will have challenges and it's just a matter of which challenges can be overcome.

I also particularly like the "the temperature is 300 below but all they'll need are some warm clothes" bit.

Thank you! That was my favorite line. Throw on a windbreaker and a beanie and you're good.

Elon knows that the only way human is getting off Earth is, as part human part machine. Neural Link.

    2010 is a better movie than 2001 -- there I said it.

I like it. As far as making sequels to great movies go, they could have really, really, really done worse.

    Really.

Brace yourself, but there are some experts in Neuroscience/cognitive processing etc that think that Elon Musk could be overselling and misrepresenting both the progress and the potential of these technologies.

Like, instead of not as exciting but incredibly useful stuff like helping people with disabilities or artificial limbs, he instead tries to tap into these goofy 12-year old boy neuromancer bullshit (though I think he pitches neural link as something that's gonna help the disabled for PR)

David Eagleman's latest book, Live Wired has a lot about this - basically his thesis is more like "the brain is really good at figuring out/synthesizing/interpreting various inputs/signals and creating a reality with them, so why bother messing with the brain instead just feed it signals and let it figure it out on its own"

I know, world smashing revelation that Musk may be off the reservation here!
