depends on how high you view a guy like cade or mobley. A year ago, edwards was in that same conversation folks are having with this years top prospects. So that also depends on how high you view him. Hes obviously shown flashes at the nba level of being a pretty good player and hes now a seemingly permanent starter after coming off the bench for much of the year.
They also started getting better when they changed coaches and one of the big changes he made was to have DLo come off the bench and be a sparkplug Lou Williams type rather than a full on point guard and they've been a lot better cause of it. I actually really like the Wolves I'm just saying that having D'Angelo "slightly better Dillon Brooks" Russell as a core piece will hold you back. If they got Suggs this draft to be the primary playmaker and could move DLO off ball as just a scorer they'd be much better.
Him and KAT's close relationship is why hes there. Whether he's off the bench or starting, he's definitely a significant part of that core that needs to be available healthy in order for them to take steps forward with edwards
Rockets 2021 season Draft Cade or Mobley, then we must draft Charles Bassey and then a sharp shooter...sign a top 3 point shooter...we are ready to go.
The silver lining is that this organization commits atrocities at a level and frequency that keeps my mind off real-world issues like the pandemic, the climate, and wars. I expect the draft to turn into an owner-made disaster too.
There is always hype for the top pick. Edwards was more based on elite athleticism which he has and had his stock fall a little for his immaturity. I fell for that speel too, but now I just think hes a successful reality show opportunity but he has after every game just focused on what he can do better and thats hopeful for them. Still a lot to learn about cade, especially against top talent. But his size, court vision/awareness, and also a silk shot that he can get off the dribble and off balance show me really good shades of him. He could be like tyreke, productive but missing that "it", or better. In any case I'll be happy if we hit our top 4 as we got some interesting players to look at, we need hope, although my favorite thus far is cade followed by green. But of course we need to make sure they fit around our franchise, John Wall... ... ...
Yea thats what they tried, they felt wall and oladpio and woods was a plyoffs team. That seems to be the profit sweetspot in the nba. Just make the playoffs, make your team good enough but not all out contenders and fans still have entertainment and engagement, and you hit your profit margins. With tillman being the most overleveraged owner in the league, he needs this and it makes sense why we went for that. Its the indiana pacers model or the tillman model A quote from the best selling author himself: " “All my haters love to say, ‘Oh, his food sucks’ or whatever. But we’re consistent. The hot food’s hot, the cold food’s cold, the music’s right, the property’s clean. You don’t have burned-out lights, you don’t have cigarettes by the front door, you don’t have trash in the parking lots. You know what you’re going to get.”" So not exactly preaching a meritocracy or pursuit of excellence. He wants to deliver a reliable entertainment experience and its worked wildly well for him in the food/entertainment world. NBA economics are different, players are 50/50 partners and the driving force of revenue, hiring rookie GMs/Coaches and surrounding yourself by people you can step on or just don't have the power leverage as first timers sounds all about on brand with FernCheeto. Great for business, Great for Tillman, Terrible for houston Rockets fans..
Agreed, if we end up with an edwards/KAT talent, we'd be alright. Problem is they are already paying Dangelo and Kat the max. And these wins lower there percentage by a little bit, at this point lke you mentioned luck has to go your own way but when you are so close to the finish line give yourself the best shot. They do have an opportunity of a faster rebuild if they hit on these picks, the new owners will have to spend properly on a GM/Coach that commands respect who can tie a culture together. Rockets have good, young, cheap talent saddled by Wall's terrible contract which maybe untradeable unless he plays consistently next year, puts up all star numbers and leads to meaningful wins. IT is a close call, but if I'm minnesota and I'm that bad. Ironically I can't believe I'm saying this, but you want that extra five percent chance in the lottrey(5 percent is tillman's dumbass advice in his entire book, totally obscure, broad, generalized, on how he he became a billionaire let alone mentions the story of how he was in the red owing millions to banks with no money left and the banks folded and closed so he essentially walked away with millions of grants, real pick yourself up by the bootstraps killer culture stuff we can all follow, find a failing, dumb bank)
has this ever happened in history? Even going back a couple years, we lost a bunch of assistant coaches, we lost our associate head coach Jeff B. A few months before your timelline MDA refused to negotiate with us after tillman lied publicly in 2019 the summer before. Then we have Tad Brown, Morey who left guaranteed high level Exec money on the table to break free. Harden who turned down 50 million a year in a city he loves, has homes, businesses wiht no intention of selling because for example in january of 2019 he came back from his usual crazy out puts of 40 or something in high minutes to see that Daniel house a big new part of our team from the gleague was sent home bc his deal wasn't tax friendly. a few weeks later he comes back to the locker room after heavy minutes/useage to see James ennis's locker room empty, he was traded for a top 55 protected 2nd rounder. These were our replacements for glue guy, Trevor Ariza. The above Harden may have began to catch wind that tillman is full of **** and not going all in to win or doing 'everything harden wants' as he continues to sell. Then after a 2019 loss with a worse team than the last year, the owner takes the mike from ESPN and says he will instill a killer instinct the more he is the owner of this team and thats what they need. Imagine telling Fiesty chris paul tillman is going to show him a killer instinct all while he demands get better results with a worse product. Im not sure if this worked for tilly in the backroom kitchen at a eatery, its not going to work with the nba with 50/50 revenue share and stars who generate the revenue. Shut up and Listen Ferntits. I can't find another time when so many execs and players all left guaranteed money and we witnessed the fastest burn down of a franchise in a few short years by one of our own, a houstonian. The trajectory all changed when the guy who plastered himself all over the arena as the face of the time took over with great fanfare of improving our facilities and being world class, all talk.
You're missing the point. Tillman is in the entertainment business, Sex Sells. We now have some of the most elgible bachelors in Houston, Texas running the show. They may be incompetent, out of their league, immature, entitled, and a total lack of self awareness, but at least we're looking good doing it..? https://abc13.com/tilman-fertitta-michael-patrick-rockets/2704534/ The only question which seemed to catch them off guard was whether they would call themselves Houston's most eligible bachelors. "Truly, it's the hardest question you could have asked. It's the one I'm going to get in trouble for," said the Fertittas. "I'll plead the 5th on that one. I'll plead the 5th."
Pure, utter laziness. I enjoy throwing in some ferntits, ferntito, fernchito, Tilly in there as well. All in all he hasn't earned the correct spelling along with my laziness to get it right. But lets face it, its comedy hour at CF. We aren't playing for anything, maybe we're celebrating the end of a disastrous forgetable year where the best case scenerio is our players are developing and june 15 we hit our pick. We don't have much to discuss but that hopeful chance of a future and looking back at how Ferntits changed the trajectory of this franchise and we witnessed the fastest burn down of a contender outside of Jerry Reisndorf and Jerry Krause of the 98 bulls, except they kept their executives. We lost our President, GM, Assitant GM, Head coach, Associate Head coach, two generational stars, and our best role player. Many left heavy money on the table to get out of here, many loved the city of houston, but couldn't keep taking the fall for the head guy who gladly will throw the fault at anyone but himself.
FerXXX is fine. You can tell whoever writes that is making fun of Fajitas. But I was talking about his first name. Single L , not double L
