I'm not saying they should do this, but if the Texans traded "low" on DW by executing a draft day trade that put them in a position to take Fields AND get a crap ton of additional picks and assets, I wouldn't be mad. I used to think the QBs were Lawrence followed closely by Wilson. But now I think Wilson is a pump job, and Fields is underrated. Fields has an insane arm, insane athleticism, and was great at OSU. He was also originally a Georgia recruit so isn't a "classic" OSU qb that is likely to fail in the NFL, lol. Where is Fields being projected? This would have to be a 100% no contingency trade.
that sucks if true. also 49ers probably draft Fields anyway... the Mac Jones thing has to be a smoke screen.
Trading Watson right now would yield less return than what we got for Hopkins. The hope for the Texans is that 1. the charges against him gets handled as quickly as possible and he avoids jail time 2. his punishment by the NFL won't be for long (honestly anything less than 8 games would be a miracle) 3. he comes back and plays at the same level as in 2020. By then, if he wants to still leave Houston the team can ask for a better package versus what they can get right now.
Will be interesting to see how Casiero navigates the draft... not just anything related to DW. IF... and a BIG IF ... what McLain writes is true, i think Casiero was 100% going to right route. Also of note, if it was true, any knowledge of what DW was doing hadn't made it up to that level in the organization (because otherwise they should have traded him faster) .... but considering McLain gets these tidbits from insiders in the organization, they may have purposefully told him that so that is the conclusion that was reached. In any case, like Stone, Casiero has been dealt a somewhat shitty hand and so far seems to be navigating as successfully as possible.
This man like the anti-George Orr, anything he dreams up, the opposite happens. Even when you read this back then you think well, looks like he'll be right...the universe reshapes itself so that he is once again wrong.
It's not even just that. The article says that the Texans made the determination to allow Watson to get traded BEFORE the allegations, which means a lot really didn't change. McClain was just wrong as hell.
Are u guys even rooting for him at this point? When Vick came back, good for him for trying to change, but had he won a superbowl, it seems like it would be tainted after prison time. Feels like Watson is in a similar boat. Almost like you don't want to root for him. It seems I was able to look the other way with Antonio Brown for some reason, but he is equally questionable.
Watson will be traded to the Pats tonight for a 2nd round pick just because it's the most infuriating thing the Texans could possibly do.
You don’t take a $21 million cap hit for a 2nd round pick. Caserio is not stupid. He has not made any boneheaded moves yet.
Imo what Watson is credibly accused of is worse than what Vick did. That said, I don't care about their private lives, only what they do on the field. If players happen to be decent people it's just a bonus, not something I expect.
