Now I know who he is: https://www.burntorangenation.com/b...xas-longhorns-vanderbilt-transfer-chris-beard I get what Beard is doing, and I love that there will seemingly be no rebuild year, but I don't want to see a team of transfers year-after-year like he had to do in Lubbock.
As long as they win who cares? You have a choice, a bunch of one and doners, or a team with transfers.
They're now in the running for the top Sunbelt player last year i think https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/devante-jones-2.html He'll announce Saturday apparently... a guard which is needed at this point, unless you trust the UK transfer which I don't. I'm with you on constant transfers... but seems to be what it is... i think the covid environment certainly is playing a role... but yeah, wins are wins...
I think Beard wants to start his reign with a strong team and then allow that to help to recruit year 2. We all know transition classes are weak, so he is circumventing that by using transfers in his first off-season. He leaned on transfers at Tech because he didn't have a choice. He should be aware that UT can pull some good basketball recruits out of HS and I'm sure he'll tap into that year 2.
This seems right. I've also said before that I think everyone recognizes that there can't be a dramatic "down year" before they open the Moody Center. They've got suites and season tickets to sell and they need buzz to do that.
Can't remember the guy's name, but apparently Morris is playing his senior year at one of the basketball factory schools, along with the #4 player in the country who is uncommitted. Quote in the paper was something like "I'm going to talk to him until he gets tired of it." Beard doing work.
Sir, I do not understand why you would think "iSchool Entrepreneurial Academy" is a basketball factory school Keyonte George: https://247sports.com/player/keyonte-george-46059226/
Another blue chip for next year: Beard's tweet after he committed This is great (UT assistant went skydiving to celebrate his mother's birthday, but he and Mitchell had been joking back and forth that "if he'll jump out of a plane for me, I'll sign"
A collection of talented individuals lost to a well-oiled, experienced team on the road. I’m not too worried about it because I have no sense of how Texas will look collectively come March.
5:30 CT (?) tipoff @ #23 Seton Hall tonight will be a good test. Interested to see how we handle their size advantage.
Texas can score inside but are getting killed on the offensive glass at both ends. Wonder if Will Baker is rethinking his transfer after the Beard hiring.
Not impressed by the defensive rebounding by the guards or the effort closing out on defense. Jones looks especially bad out there. I would give Jaylon Tyson some run in the second half
Rebounding problem so far is not on the guards, SH is running out 3 6'10+ guys in the frontcourt rotation who are killing it on the offensive glass.
That's true, but also something I was factoring in as out of our control until Disu shows up. I do think there was some lazy tracking by the guards that could have saved us 8 points potentially. Also, Beard has to stop playing favorites/veterans just because. I don't want to see Jones/Askew/Bishop together again
