Wrong because we do have heritage from Native American cultures, though we often don't realize it. Offensive because lots of culture was also lost, not because they didn't have culture to contribute, but because we literally committed genocide against hundreds of Native American cultures. If you are going to display your ignorance about your own heritage, at least don't bring up this sore point that we've committed some of history's greatest atrocities while you're doing it.

I do like that the white nationalists are making themselves easier to spot nowadays. Saddened that others can hear them say these things and not be disgusted.

    *Caution, pgabriel soapbox post*

One of the biggest negative lingering consequences of slavery is our lost connection to our African Heritage. When we complain about dumb **** like not enough black Oscar winners or worse no black Marvel Comic super heroes we are looking for something that is not there.

We are looking for something to make us whole. We talk about reparations as if that's gonna fix problems in the inner city. We think having wealth like whites is gonna make us happy.

I talk about comparing Hispanics to Blacks because they are passing us but at the end of the day they have the same family/cultural pride as Asians and Whites and therefore they build on their past.

If you don't know where you have been you don't know where you're going.

I guess you can make up your own history like the white nationalists do.

Didn't you post about a week ago that we need to forget and move on from the effects of slavery?

Let go of the anger. I actually think we should embrace our history as we do not know our African roots. We should embrace our survival and progress

Native American culture also made a lot contributions to the US and even World culture. As noted there are a lot of names of places that come from Native Americans but the food from the New World has made a big difference globally. Think about what Ireland would've been like without potatoes, Italy without tomatoes, without chili peppers and all of humanity without chocolate or maize.

These crops weren't just growing wild that Europeans came along and domesticated but had been farmed and selectively bred for centuries by Native Americans. By the time the Europeans arrived the already had many different breeds maize and potatoes to choose from to see what they could take back to Europe.

What you're doing is good. Its the nuance that is mind numbing.

Yes Rick, you are spot on. Native American culture is vastly under represented. But next time, shelf the Trump tactic for the sake of attention. There is no need to stand on the neck of Native Americans to illustrate the perfect example of why Native Americans culture is under represented.

    That's PRECISELY Santorum's point.

...unless he intends to go the Brett Favre route, and contend that he really had no intention of diminishing or denigrating Native Americans, and what he said just came out wrong or he got carried away in the moment or something.

...We got this American omelet, where we can all quibble over "dumb" arguments, because of the Native American eggs we had to break (among a few others) in order to make it...
