Seattle is in a weird position. Kelenic is/was hurt and he was their big prospect that was ready. Their other guys are either up or may still be a year out or more. Julio Rodriguez is the big X-Factor for them like Leon is to the Astros. He might be ready, he might need a season or two of AA/AAA ABs. If I was a Mariner fan, I'd be very worried that their prospects don't hit the majors as a big slug while they still have some decent veterans under decent contracts. They will be very scary if their guys are ready this year.
Thanks. Mitch Hanniger and Kyle Lewis are doing their best to try to be the modern day version of Edmonds/Pujols. If they had a more complete roster, including pitching, I agree they’d be a potential force with some lasting power. Their lineup, with prospects reaching their potential, seems more dangerous than anything any of the other division opponents could put together.
His curve, while not great, has helped him so far be okay against LHBs instead of bad like he was using a change last season as his primary secondary against lefties while he's remained devastating to RHBs. Javier has been painting his spots this season, and Dusty has not let him battle without his stuff so far this season. He's going to regress some with his command, and I don't trust Dusty not to try to force more innings out of his arm. I don't expect Javier to be a inning eating haus (Urquidy looks close to being effective and able to eat innings), but he should be fine as a starter if the Astros make sure they have someone like Garcia to fill in if he losses his velo early.
Hanniger is already in his 2nd year of arbitration. He's a free agent after next season. Will be interesting to see if they pay him.
Haniger and Seager only have a year and two years left of club control respectively. Here's to hoping their prospects aren't ready in time.
Not sure if you remember The Church. they still put out wonderful albums. They have evolved quite nicely over the years. oh yeah, baseball thread. Go Astros!!
That's a dream offensive lineup if each player is doing their part to play up to their ability. I would even say it could be the best in baseball.
Seattle has been our whipping boy for years. Lets keep it that way. BTW, did anyone know we a have our highest win% vs Seattle (61.9%) all time? TEAM ................ Man...if Tucker could just get a few to drop in. He squares the ball up a lot and has had probably the worst luck in baseball so far.
No, I did not know they were still around, but now I do. This was one of my favorites back in the day: And Go Astros!
Jarred Kelenic, LHB CF. He's a beast, and will be a thorn in our asses for years. Only 21, hasn't played organized ball since '19 in A-ball, is apparently in their alternate site and sick with something, M's GM says "he will be up soon". He destroyed spring training this year, btw. For a M's opinion: https://sodomojo.com/2021/04/27/mariners-jarred-kelenic-carlos-beltran/
Baker said he was given 5 magic beans by a monk, ate them, and realized his resulting farts had more discipline in them than the Astro at-bats. Revelation. Maybe. Maybe Not. Then when asked, he said with pity, "we want the Giants. Close the gates to city. and find that monk."
I'm surprised the winning percentage is that high against TB. Have the Astros ever won a series in TB?
