The Republican party literally does not stand for anything, other than incoherent fear and rage. It used to be the fear and the racism were just part of marketing whatever larger conservative (largely plutocratic) project to consolidate wealth or as they called it "economic freedom" or enforce religious values/hegemony. Hell I'd even accept that some proponents of this actually believed in the virtue of these things. Now the fear and the terror is the whole substance. There is nothing else left. I mean, that's one more reason to raise taxes again. At least they'll have something to talk about and a policy issue other than pure rage/racism. @basso
