Well...Trump was the President of an entire country...so yeah? His words and actions affect people more than Lebron's and thus people had stronger reactions to him. The fault here is you comparing the two as if they have equal impact on the country. They don't. Trump still controls an entire political party.
Yes this is true, but I don't think his marketability had much to do with his likeability and a lot of that marketability came at the end of his career when people decided that he was right all along. that the Vietnam war sucked and Black people were actually being discriminated against. I guess the point of my post is black activist are never liked until after the fact. MLK Jr, now beloved American icon, surely wasn't that in his time. I mean the guy was killed after all and public support thought of him as a violent guy that asked too much of white america. Ali was also very combative towards the majority american public. Yeah he was loved for the same reason Kap was but also hated for the same reasons. But you see how the NFL now accepts BLM protests now that Kap has no power, no voice, and no platform anymore? It's sort of like that...and you can see a bit of it with Lebron already. You would think Lebron bombed a Catholic church filled with white children with some of the rhetoric thrown around about him. Don't even get me started on the whole "He should stay out of it because he's an athlete."
It's a bigger issue than LeBeon speaking too soon. We need to stop assuming and even more importantly stop talking like MOST of these shootings aren't justified. They are
So nobody told Trump to just shut up and stick fraudulent universities or real estate. You are either unable or unwilling to see the difference both in number and severity of moronic/unethical/illegal offenses and statements from Trump and LeBron says more about you than it does about me. You have placed the blinders on yourself. It isn't my place to remove them. Good luck with your journey.
Lord give me strength dealing with people like you. You might sense a little deja vu reading some of the below - because I'm just going to use your own words to prove you're an idiot much like LeBron (guess what - I don't even know your skin colour so I can't be called a racist for it!) @FranchiseBlade : "People don't treat white celebrities in the same way when they are wrong on issues. Certainly not white male celebrities." That is a direct word for word quote. Now, when someone quickly points out not only is that a ludicrous statement, it is actually downright hilarious when you think the person who cops the most negativity in the entire world is a - low and behold - a white male. @FranchiseBlade :"Trump deserved far worse than the treatment he got" Oh ok, I get it. Criticise a black man for being wrong and an idiot - RACIST RACIST BURN HIS HOUSE DOWN! Criticise a white man for being wrong and an idiot - NOT ENOUGH WAS DONE! WE NEED TO DO MORE TO ATTACK THIS MAN! @FranchiseBlade :"You are either unable or unwilling to see the difference both in number and severity of moronic/unethical/illegal offenses and statements from Trump and LeBron says more about you than it does about me." Actually, your hilarious responses above don't just say more about you, they actually prove you to be the very thing you're trying to argue against. Oh we ain't done yet. @FranchiseBlade :"You have placed the blinders on yourself" I think you've confused yourself with looking into a mirror. Sorry pal. Good luck on your journey of being racist towards white people, but not considering it's racist because they're white and they actually deserve far worse than what they get. Just a little joke before I depart this smackdown and ignore a racist like you - do you know what @FranchiseBlade and LeBron James have in common?
I remember less division under Trump, just a $hit ton of media bias telling everyone Trump was racist despite not ever showing any proof of it. Look at where we are now, the people bought the bs media, big tech, hollywood, sports league sold them. Its a shame that they are trying to start a race war and people are too blind to see. A totally justified use of force in a situation where force had to be used no matter what and tensions keep growing because the media cant for a second just report the news of what happened and not tell people what to think and who or what is racist. How hard is it to report the facts? A police officer saves the life of a young girl as another young girl attempts to stab her with a kitchen knife. Unfortunately the officer had to use deadly force under the circumstances. That's it, no white or black. No white shaming or black victimizing. No talk of racism. Instead they keep pushing and pushing their dangerous narrative. People here defending LeBron probably bought into the lies, cant see the dangerous game he is playing. People look up to him, young black kids around the world. Teaching them that its dangerous to be black in America, its dangerous to be ignorant and irresponsible in any country of the world. The billionaire feeling victimized. And the blind following him and defending his shallow and racist fed propaganda. The same man who could not stfu on China and when he did open his mouth it was to defend a communist country with absolutely awful actions towards their very own people. I am conflicted, NBA, MLB and NFL.... Sports I love getting involved and supporting the things I hate. Such as Hate itself.
Does this really deserve 12 pages, and likely more? I don’t think so. What actually happened, while tragic for all involved, including the officer who fired his weapon, looks very straight forward. The officer had no choice, in my opinion. The overwhelming majority here seem to agree. Because the country’s been on edge during the Chauvin case, up until the verdict and after, taking it in, some “spoke” before enough was known about what happened here. Some of them very prominent, when some caution initially would have served them and everyone else better. They should express regret for doing that, in my opinion. Having said that, it resulted in an almost gleeful response from some here which doesn’t look so great, either. Four years of trump has filled this country with a sickness in it’s soul that will take years to get over.
No it's called post history. The same people who who call Lebron the dumbest person on the planet for making comments from the hip that puts someone's life in danger were silent the past 4 years when the man with the world's largest bully pulpit directed hate at Individuals at his jingoist rallies and on twitter to the point that literal assassination plots occured and we're thwarted because of said rhetoric. His OWN Defense secretary hand picked by him: "Donald Trump is the first president who tries to purposefully divides the nation in my lifetime".
"Biden Viewed Positively, Trump More Negatively After Capitol Riot | Pew Research Center" https://www.pewresearch.org/politic...ings-trump-departs-with-lowest-ever-job-mark/ Trump is the first president in American history since polling was introduced to never have an aggregate approval rating above 50% once in his presidency.
Trump also is the first president in American history to have a US senator of his own party vote to convict the president of his party in an impeachment trial and there were multiple. Your memory might be hazy or biased towards wishful thinking.
The lesson here is police reform is necessary and people who are activists for law enforcement reform need to learn to chose their battles more wisely or else they will harm the very cause they are advocating for.
It's amazing to me that all of these people that backed Trump for years are getting on Lebron for ONE tweet. ONE. Do we really want to play this game? Let's ignore that one was a president and one was a basketball player... Let's also ignore that he has literally retweeted white surpemacsits and their talking points, SEVERAL times. So, super rich of people to call Lebron being divisive when you have the president retweeting crime stats. It's always funny to me that it's NEVER divisive to some people around here when black people are dehumanized. That's perfectly cool and fine. This is what Trump retweeted. This is a meme (fake stats) made literally by white nationalists...your president was tweeting this out...completely false information promoting the most negative of stereotypes about black people. So let's not pretend that Trump did nothing wrong and did not fire off incendiary tweets. He did that multiple times per day. Talking about harmful tweets. Remember this guy, this honorable president that you can't imagine could be hated, tweets out "When the looting starts, the shootings starts" I mean, we could dig up terrible Trump Tweets all day long, this thread would go on for another 50 pages probably if you dedicated a tweet per post...and this is not even considering all the pre-POTUS account tweets.
The Trump Derangement is really strong in this thread. I just pointed out a huge contradiction in what Blade was saying. So save your deranged rhetoric for someone who actually cares about it. I'm Australian. The way Americans treat politics is ludicrous and one of the only things I don't like about the country. Instead try to find something I said that was wrong instead of going on your woeful tangent. Or can you not do that because what I said was actual facts?
At first I just saw the black on black number and thought that's about right, then I saw the black on white number and thought WTF.
Your selective outrage is what is wrong. Being outraged by Lebron for firing from the hip to accuse someone and cause potential harm to them is something someone with the largest bully pulpit on the planet did for 4 years on a near weekly basis and there was none of this outrage from you. Therefore it is very simple. Your outrage isn't based in principle. It's based in tribalism.
Even though I started this thread it doesn't deserve 12 pages. Very little of this is focused on the actual facts of the case or the implications of it. Most of this is just about arguing the personalities of celebrities and other posters. Still glad I started it otherwise this would've cluttered up other threads.
