That's quite comical, who wants to watch those remaining clubs lmao. No TV station will bid on that ****. Edit: Italy coming to senses and burying this.
Good day today! So many good news it is rare to see. I literally LOLed when Johnson said to the PL officias: If there is no law to stop them, we will just make a new one! Rich lawyers can't fight laws that don't even exist and will be made just for them. What is HILLARIOUS is that all those teams have left the european club organisation so they now don't have votes to decide on how the CL will be structured. Politicians, governments fans and football officials have to come together and look how this never happens again. Maybe start by implementing the german fan ownership model. Prohibit owners buying teams by borrowing all the money. Implement a soft cap? Lesson of the scandal: Never underestimate human stupidity and never underestimate human greed. This can and will happen again in the future if no steps are taken.
It's only the Spanish and Juventus left. No wonder the Spanish are left. I said before Italian and UK fans were disgusted and up in arms but not spanish fans. Because more than 60% are fans of those 3 teams. They control the sports press the media and the perceptions. They also have the most political control that's why the spanish FA and government have had the most peacefull response. Also they are the most desperate because they are in debt. https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...eague-football-biggest-game-of-poker-sid-lowe It shows that the spanish league is sick from the inside far more than the italian or the english.
the idea will surely come up again at some point. too much money to be made and too many greedy executives. its now or never to try to make some progress on the financial fair play side or else these clubs will just continue on getting bigger and running into more debt. unlikely but now seems like the prefect time.
Perez and Agnelli should bear consequences for this. The Spanish clubs have blatantly been buying their way to the top. No financial fair play there. They should suffer.
Florentino Perez stated that football needs saving. He said that football will be no more in 2024. Is the outlook for European football that bleak?
No. Their players could be incorporated into the other teams. The NBA would suffer the loss of the Lakers, though. But, if La Liga lost Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Atlético Madrid, then La Liga would be no more. I mean, Messi makes more than entire teams. Maybe that's what Perez is talking about. Maybe he's just greedy, but greed isn't anything new in football.
If all those teams went bankrupt they would just be relegated to the second or third division. They can sell all their expensive players to pay off debts, sign some young prospects develop and sell them again like others do. Clubs don't just dissappear if they get bankrupt. If I remember correctly Juventus was also relegated. It brings the fans and the community together. Ofc La Liga would suffer for 2-3 years financially but it is also far fetched that all of those will get bankrupt in the same season. I don't even know if Atletico is also in debt. Some years you are up some years you are down. Football goes on. Today Shalke even got relegated. I have watched them many times in the CL in the past , they are a historic team. RealM and Barcelona just don't want to pay their dues like the rest of the world. It's like a cancerous tumour that has grown too big and to keep on surviving it needs to keep infesting others.
This quote is so funny, you can see how amazingly little clue they have about the football world. This crap only appeals to 3rd world fans that never went to a single domestic game and are Ronaldo, Messi, Neymar stans with zero connection to football.
Here is the thing about the Super League, these owners invested BILLIONS into them, and they can lose billions if they are ever demoted. So, they try to set up a side league that plays only the other big clubs during the week, but they fail to work out a deal with their CURRENT league first. That is the screwup. No one gives two ***** for UEFA - they are screwing the clubs over for their own benefit, they don't take any risk at all in hosting champions league. So, I don't blame the big clubs, I blame their lack of planning and execution. DD
it really was amazing just how poorly planned it was. a super league type of competition has been talked about ever since the champions league started blowing up in ratings across the world and yet this half assed proposal is what they went with lol. concacaf's superliga was around for longer
