He looks the part - but it will depend if he can keep it up, his 3pt % was not stellar in the Gleague at 37.5%. https://stats.gleague.nba.com/player/1629717/traditional/ Like what I see, but he looks like a hot and cold player, and we have only seen the hot. DD
Rooting for him, but that said, we've got to stop having these g-league dreams for our roster. We've got to draft or sign professional players. Brooks can shoot, but he drives the lane and blacks out more than Ariza and just like Dotson. Inconsistent shooting results despite the thought and looking like every shot should go in. He has an nba body but will likely never put it all together. The delusion is that he's gonna make a difference when he's just another G-leaguer. We've got to think bigger starting the end of this year and stop shopping at the five and dime.
Keep taking advantage of it all Armoni. If the Rockets don't give you a guaranteed deal, someone else will this offseason if he continues to play well
I don't need any kind of vet to be signed on this team until there is some kind of directions we are headed in. I'm fine gambling on a bunch of G-Leagers and hoping a couple become Danuel House types that can be flipped for assets or become role players when the team is good again.
Ryan Anderson didn't "drop off". He was pretty quality, especially that first year with Paul. He just got exposed by Curry in the WCF and that was effectively the end of his career. Gordon was more productive than Anderson, for half the money.
Pretty funny I met Armoni Brooks back when he was a freshman at UH, ran into him at the Galleria, chopped it up with him and got connected with him since then. True Story.
Man needs to be signed to a long term contract and then sent to the bench. All those made threes. It's like he is mocking us. We don't do that here. We let let John Wall try and keep us 48% in getting a top pick. Then next year we will still have John Wall and we will.......smh.
Yeah, the exploding popularity of switching defenses sent Ryno into early retirement. We could live with him being outmuscled by bigs, but having to chase guards around the perimeter exposed his lack of athleticism.
Herro is not really a sharpshooter, definitelynot a 3-D player. He is a scorer. And hasn't been very good at that this season.
Yes, he did fine the first year. Then he got injured and lost all his shooting confidence. He wasn't just unplayable on defense. He was unplayable on offense, which was supposed to be why Morey wanted him. He didn't just missed shots. He didn't want to take shots anymore. That was really painful to watch. Gordon is still a good scorer. But look at his shooting. He was an elite shooter before we got him. Then we watched his 3p avg dropped from 40% to 38% to 36% to 30%.
He shot 39% from 3 his rookie year. That's pretty good. Never thought he was good at D. My point was that the best shooter we got in recent years other than Ryno and Gordon was BenMac. And Ben's shooting dropped off too after a season or so.
Said it during the Phoenix game. How anyone can watch Brooks play and not see shades of Lou Will is beyond me.
Yes and no! I think you're right in that we need to temper some of our G-League excitement, but we've got two guys that tore up the G-League (KPJ and KMJ) that are playing pretty well on the big stage. AB fills a role we really need--3pt specialist/snipa who can play some D. He has some rough spots he needs to work on--ball handling, finishing, creating, defensive awareness, free-throws, etc.; but shooters don't grow on trees. Right now his range and ability to hit some difficult shots looks really promising. I'd let that play out a few more games, but locking up this kind of young shooter for a portion of the MLE can't be a bad thing. I haven't even mentioned he's from our school, but that's just a little sweetener. I'm also all for thinking bigger, but we'll also need some cheap role players to fill out the roster and he's looking like a great fit so far and someone who will benefit from working with a pro coaching staff.
nobody in here is thinking he’s going to be a superstar. We just think he can be a good role player/supporting piece. You get in cap hell pretty quickly signing proven Players instead of developing players.
How good is ? gordon/wall kpj/brooks Tate/kmj Kelly Wood plus whatever guys we draft in the first round this year ? The main duo I want to see develop is kpj and Tate . I believe Tate has playmaking upside and maybe eventually shooting off the dribble . Christian and Kelly are No doubt skilled offensively . Can they defend at a high level? keep in mind . John Wall could actually be better next year . He will be much less rusty . He’s had some decent games and still looks pretty athletic . theres no way we are trying to spend assets to get rid of his contract . He will be here next year imo . Gordon , we might move in the offseason . Or we may prefer to keep . How much fun is he having ? seriously . think if you get a good Gordon Gordon Kpj Tate Kelly Wood . that’s a good lineup . At least .500 with that group . If brooks can legit shoot (looks good so far ) then we won’t be bottom 5 bad . We could even be mediocre .
John Wall and Eric Gordon can't be trusted to Play 70 Games. Can't teaust Eric Gordon anymore to play Games on Back to Backs or play above 40 games. He will miss half of the season.
