she’s also been on the force for 26 years I’m sorry, but how does someone like that confuse a gun for a taser? My eyebrows are now raised with this one. Can we get her social media history? Let’s see if she’s expressed certain views about black people.
It's just a numbers game, really. If you put a gun on one hip and a taser (essentially a gun that pew pews electricity) on the other and walk around long enough, eventually you're gonna pull out the wrong one. The solution here is that not every officer should have a gun, all the time.
Saying he's an idiot and that the realization is that this was probably a low point in his life should be me being pretty clear that he was making a poor decision. However... just like with Floyd and so many others it doesn't mean that they DESERVED to die. I'm sick of the response always being "he wasn't actually a good guy, etc. etc. etc" as an explanation of why he deserves to die. Two things can be true at the same time. Im sorry but it's just not too much to ask to have cops trained to deal with people making bad decisions in a low point in their lives that always is expected to end up in the person dying. If someone is pulling a gun on you, or coming at you with a knife, yes.. force is necessary. If someone is acting crazy, and making a bad decision that isn't life threatening to the police or other civilians then there needs to be training for that, and consequences when police fail to act upon that training. This isn't rocket science. We just have really crappy policing in this country.
I agree, lets do that. We do it all the time for the other side, so let's find out if this lady had a history. Second, even if it was a mistake, there are consequences for mistakes. She deserves jail time.
I have higher standards for a 26 year vet, head of the Police Union, and field training officer that was currently training another officer when she shot Mr. Wright...gun vs taser should’ve been 2nd nature decades ago She lost her mind? She was drunk?
Simple probability. Humans doing X action Y number of times is guaranteeing Z number of failures/mistakes.
Your standards don't mean anything, nor will they help prevent this from happening in the future. I'm telling you how to reduce the frequency of this happening again, which you don't seem interested in.
Not many think Wright deserved to die. My point is that anyone will have a tough time restraining Wright within those seconds he jumps into the car and flees.
I’m not interested in it because if a 26 year vet, head of Police Union, and field training officer who was currently training an officer shouldn’t have a gun, then who should?
Exactly. If this person can make such a mistake, perhaps we should be a little more careful in dolling out the weapons, no? I think having every cop be a purple belt in jiu jitsu is a great idea. Would take a lot of resources, but I think it's worth it.
I asked my cop friend if you can mistake a tazer for a gun. He said - it's probably happened before, but 99% of the time it's just not a mistake people make.
Just heard on the radio that LEO Potter has resigned along with the chief of Brooklyn Center PD. https://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2021...esign-brooklyn-center-daunte-wright-shooting/
There's a reason why police usually take someone to the back of the car to restrain them. Why he was sort of half a$$ putting on the cuffs right next to the door boggled my mind. Again... a failure of policing. Making a point about Wright, or Floyd, or Trayvon, or whoever to me is pointless because the fact of the matter is cops should be prepared for situations where someone does something stupid, and it is your job as a cop to protect that persons life, and the lives of those around him. When the same police officers go to a house in a town like say Alvin, tx (not picking on Alvin, but... it's an example) with some poor white people who are on drugs having a domestic disturbance... again at one of the lowest points in their life... you cannot tell me the response is different and that the cops don't have a comfort level in their training to calm down the situation. The fact is policing in this country is a failure at it's core job to protect and serve when it comes to black men. You know we used to have documented evidence of Police officers routinely dealing with people at the end of their rope cracked out of their mind, and we could see how police could respond without just shooting the guy or woman. It was called COPS. It's not too much to ask IMO to just ask them to utilize methods to neutralize situations without shooting the black man or choking the life out of him when they are clearly not a threat to your life.
Whenever you don't comply with the police you run the risk of them making a mistake with a loaded weapon pointed at you. Duane Wright has no one to blame but himself.
No the officer who mistaken a .5 lb taser for a 2+ lb loaded 9mm glock has blame. The loaded magazine by itself weighs probably more than the taser.
How can a 26 year vet and field training officer mistake a gun for a taser? If she was some rookie who just joined the force, was in her 1st traffic stop situation or something like that, and just lost her mind then maybe. But this officer? I don’t see how u do that.
the more info that comes out, the worse this killer gets 26 year vet mistaking her gun for her taser?
