Didn't we start 11-10? That means we have lost 30 of our last 33. Without Harden and Wood that first month, we would be in the worst team ever conversation.
NO, but to restore your faith in the direction of the league, Grriffin and Aldridge went to Brooklyn, and Drummond went to LA,. Doesn't the NBA sound more watchable?
I believe Rocket are Bostjan Nachbar away from title contenders. Consider a hypothetical seance where Nachbar was 25 and added to current Rocket. Now, consider his 2002 and 2005 partial season with Net. He average 13.3 and 11.3 points respectably over 35 min (Average of 12.3 combine). Effective field goal percentage was low (~.39s), but Nachba had little turnover and block, so defense was net positive (+). If you take a look at current Rocket team has point difference negative 6.5. Add Nachbar scoring to current Rockets and plus/minus equals (+5.8). Most title contender above +5.0 and would put Rockets at 5th currently. Therefore, it may be concluded that with statistical analysis of the current Rockets roster and the current state of the NBA, the Rockets are essentially a Bostjan Nachbar away from top 5 status and a return to title contention. As Nachbar is currently retired, it is unknown whether a statistical equivalent may serve as an effective replacement or if replacement players may need to be evaluated with adjusted algorithms.
OKC can Draft 2 Franchise Players with the 1st and 5th Picks. With Sam Presti Drafting Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, James Harden, Serge Ibaka. It is a Guarantee he wont mess up the Picks. The problem is that the Players dont like OKC as a Destination and the Owner is Cheap in not keeping them and investing money on the team.
Tilman has been a terrible owner thus far, but at least he's allowing the team to tank. Les never would've done this. Question for the draft lottery experts. If the Rockets finish with the worst record, what are the odds percentagewise they wind up in the top 4?
The Rockets last 33 games L L L L L L L L L L L L L L L L L L L L W L L W L L L L L W L L L 30 loses and 3 wins My guess is Silas is going to swagger into the Fertitta compound and demand a raise when this season is over.
Roughly 52% that the Rockets get a pick in the top 4. 14% they get the #1 pick, 13% they get the #2 pick, 13% they get the #3 pick and 12% they get the 4th pick........ 48% that the Rockets get the #5 pick and it conveys to the Thunder.
Better than a coinflip's chance. I can live with that. I wish it were a little higher though. Do they get next year's pick regardless of where it winds up? They can't give up picks in consecutive years in a trade, right?
We keep our picks in 2022 and 2023 and 2025 (at least our first rounders). In 2024 and 2026 our first rounders are protected for picks 1-4. The best "bet" for the Rockets is to keep their pick this year, be in the lottery again next year and start climbing out of it going into year three.... and then by 2024 the Rockets are out of the lottery. The Rockets in that same time period also have the Portland pick in 2021 and a Miami pick in 2022 and a Bucks pick in 2023. So it is crucial that the Rockets draft and develop players well. They are going to have 6 #1 picks over the next three seasons with possibly up to three lottery picks.
Yes Swap’s don’t count as giving up picks (e.g. Nets traded 7 consecutive picks and swaps for Harden), so the swap with OKC this year has no bearing on the Stepien Rule. Further, we can trade the 2022 pick on draft day (like, say, to trade up this year from 3rd pick to 1st)...bc we also have a guaranteed FRP in 2023.
Ideally they keep their pick this year(and obviously getting #1 would be perfect), stink the next two years and get high picks in those drafts, and then have a bunch of solid young players along with a buttload of cap space when Wall comes off the books. Then they could add a few solid veteran free agents to compliment the young core and as an added bonus, the Nets could be in decline by then which allows them to add even more talent to an already playoff-caliber team.
When we tank in this city, we go all out. None of that half in half out nonsense. Lose, lose like your life depends on it.
I think with the new rules there is no benefit to being last or worst, right? Didn't they change the rules recently? @BimaThug ? @Clutch ? Anyone know? DD
