Bauer actually hasn't been that great of a pitcher, ERA-wise in his career. I just looked it up because he's an ******* and I was curious. Dude's posted an ERA of 6 before. Why is he so popular again as a FA?
Looks like averaging 84.5 games for the last 5 years has finally taken a toll on Judge’s 29 year old body. Hate seeing that type of “wear and tear” over 5 seasons.
Listen to the clip, even the Mets announcers were pretty vehement that it was BS. By rule, you cannot be granted a HBP on a pitch that is in the strike zone, and the HPU clearly called it a K before he changed his mind. You also have to make an effort to not get hit. More incompetent umpiring.
I believe he and Bonds and others were the impetus for the rule change requiring effort to avoid the pitch. I could also be making that up.
Nothing can give back what Mike Fiers mouth has taken away, but Bauer being the first punished for doctored baseballs would go a long way.
