I don't think it's a big deal either way. I don't think MLB having the All Star Game in Atlanta or not will change the issue.

I just find it ironic that people who've been arguing for private business to make private business decisions are upset about this.

The margin of victory for Republicans has been going down........ the last six presidential elections for Republicans.... +23, +22, +12, +16, +9, +5.

Cruz did not "handily" win in 2018, he won by a little over 2%.... it was the closest Texas Senate race in 40 years, which was when the state was transitioning into a Republican state.

There are reasons that Republican leaders are pushing for these changes, and that is an effort to preserve their political standing by making it more difficult to vote to discourage people that they believe will vote Democrat from going to the polls.

It wasn't necessary for changes, there is no evidence of substantive voter fraud.

I love the total pivoting of positions by the folks who support this. It went from "but GA DOES suppress votes! Good on MLB for taking a stand" to "well maybe it doesn't suppress votes and the move is stupid but MLB can do what they want, oh well..."

The changes actually suppressing votes is conjecture. I am all for supporting anything that helps protect election integrity. Anybody can vote.

I was having this discussion with my ex at the Minneapolis Pride Festival two years ago. We were talking about big of a role that Target, Delta and Wells Fargo had taken in Pride. The Pride Parade has happened for decades but 10 years ago those corporations wanted nothing to do with them but now they have floats, booths, hand out T-shirts and hats. Target also gives their employees time off to participate in it and the work on planning.

Corporate sponsorship of Pride has become such a big deal that many are worried that it will be taken over by corporations and become more of a marketing opportunity and lose it's radical edge and it's original meaning will be lost.

Why these corporations are interested in Pride and are spending money being involved isn't because they are "woke". It's because they recognize that LGBTQ people travel, shop and bank. That catering to that market can enhance profits. They also understand that where the culture is the market of people how either care about LGBTQ rights and acceptance or at least it isn't an issue is far greater than those who don't. That wasn't the case even a decade ago. Even so Target has faced boycotts over policies such as support of same sex marriage to the extent of extending family benefits to same sex couples even before it was legalized. The decision they made wasn't one of moral courage but that they read where the market was at.

All you need in order to understand is to look at who's currently sitting in the Governor's wheelchair, who's the Lt. Governor (and also President of the Texas Senate), who's the Speaker of the Texas House and the Clarence Thomas clone who's the head of the State Republican Party and you have your answer.

hey dummy, the “liberal” big cities and urban areas represent 70+ percent of the US economy.

Corporations are for profit enterprises. They owe it to their shareholders to maximize profits. That means taking positions that appeal to the folks who have money, who spend money.
