I see mojoman is so irrelevant politically nowadays that he has to dip into the nazi cartoon factory... even during Passover.
The new variants are no joke. East coast has been getting hit and will gradually move to the West. Better get vaccinated.
We're seeing a very worrying uptick in new cases and an increase hospitalizations. Most of these new cases are from the new variants.
The Venn diagram intersection of those who think the virus is manmade and those who think the vaccine is bad news is large. Why would they choose the man made virus over the man made vaccine? The virus would have presumably been made by a singular bad actor whilst there are multiple vaccines with different manufactures and strategeries for success.
Because nothing makes sense anymore, and...corporate backed scientists and Faucis of the world are liars and getting rich off the little guy by lying?
on edit, looks like a lot of people are picking up on this https://reason.com/2021/04/02/vermo...ines-thats-almost-certainly-unconstitutional/
We experienced exponential growth in new cases, but in death? I think this is due to their health system collapsing and unmitigated spread, but if it’s due to the new variant... it’s not, hopefully not.
Just terrifying, beyond the human toll in Brazil, which is awful enough, in terms of all the new variants this can spin off.
Yeah, that sounds tweaked. I think the idea is that these groups are lagging way behind in vaccine rates and often inhabit multi-generational households. Saying 16-and-up gives public health officials a shot (har har) to at least get some folks in those households immune. Not defending the policy or announcement but offering a possible understanding of its origin. Should just open it up to everyone and then focus some messaging and outreach in those communities.
Remember, this is what the US would be like if Trump got re elected. Biden winning saved countless lives.
Almost Third of UK Covid Hospital Patients Readmitted Within Four Months Nearly a third of people who have been in hospital suffering from Covid-19 are readmitted for further treatment within four months of being discharged, and one in eight of patients dies in the same period, doctors have found. From a report: The striking long-term impact of the disease has prompted doctors to call for ongoing tests and monitoring of former coronavirus patients to detect early signs of organ damage and other complications caused by the virus. While Covid is widely known to cause serious respiratory problems, the virus can also infect and damage other organs such as the heart, liver and kidneys. Researchers at University College London, the Office for National Statistics, and the University of Leicester, compared medical records of nearly 48,000 people who had had hospital treatment for Covid and had been discharged by 31 August 2020, with records from a matched control group of people in the general population. The records were used to track rates of readmission, of deaths, and of diagnoses for a range of respiratory, heart, kidney, liver and metabolic diseases, such as diabetes. After an average follow-up time of 140 days, nearly a third of the Covid patients who had been discharged from hospital had been readmitted and about one in eight had died, rates considerably higher than seen in the control group. "This is a concern and we need to take it seriously," said Dr Amitava Banerjee, at the Institute of Health Informatics at University College London. "We show conclusively here that this is very far from a benign illness. We need to monitor post-Covid patients so we can pick up organ impairment early on."
