What a game. That infield pop-up that alright scored on.... Unreal. And Bregman's and Brantley's starts this season.... Loving it. What a breath of fresh air the Astros are compared to the other two dumpsters in Houston.
Altuve looks like he has his legs back. That makes me very happy. Him and Bregs are going to have MVP level seasons.
I see ESPN still has “Belated boos belt Ast It was momentum and CC and Chapman knew it which is why Chapman manned up, got up and said nothing.
I thought I watched the whole game, but don't remember that play. Must have blinked. I dont think CC meant Chapman harm. At the same time though, he showed passive disregard for what happened to Chapman as he completed his play. That level of contact isn't that uncommon. Guys going into 2nd base cause collisions all the time. But out on the base path, it did look a bit like the contact there was more avoidable.
That picture quality was top notch !! My point was the ball bounced twice and 95% of throws are done while taking 2 steps after the catch.
Why is Bregman out today vs a LHP? I know he wants to get everyone involved, but Bregs has come out hot and crushes LHP daaamnit he better not be hurt
A couple quotes from an opposing writer: The next time the A’s decide they should try to sneak a high fastball past Alex Bregman, they should increase their chances of success by trying instead to sneak a sunrise past a rooster. There is no excuse for the gaffe Elvis Andrus committed when he allowed Jose Altuve to tag up from 3B on basically an infield pop up. No, Andrus wasn’t caught off guard because Altuve tagged up unexpectedly — Altuve only tagged up when he saw that Andrus was lackadaisically getting under it flat-footed and not preparing himself for a throw. https://www.athleticsnation.com/202...ardo-ramon-laureano-elvis-andrus-matt-chapman
On exaggeration....if fielder has time to get under ball, a step or 2 to the side is frequent for balls that far from the plate with a runner on 3rd, but no where close to 95% take 2 steps back.
Baker said he'd be giving him this off day. No injuries other than they are still playing it safe with his hamstring recovery. I don't know why Diaz has to be inserted into his spot in the order.
