After 5 months of Rockets and Texans this was a damn fine palette cleanser.

Couldn’t stay up to watch it all, but woke up at 3:30 to see how it went. What a great start to the day!!

So Yordan was just a few feet from a two bomb day? maybe he won’t be batting sixth for too long after all...

As long as his knees hold up the dude can rake, doesn't matter where he hits now.

Yep. And he ever needs to play the field.

Was interesting to note that despite everybody romanticizing about pitchers hitting... nobody missed it last year. And just one game in, people now remembering why.

The Rays basically instructed Glasnow not to attempt to swing. He took 10 straight pitches. I don’t want pitchers getting hurt trying to swing a bat. They’re far too valuable. (And on the flip side, I don’t want Yordan tearing something while trying to rob a HR).

How did that Alvarez sac fly not go way out of the park? That makes me think MLB deadened the ball more than they let on.

Yeah, but the National League can keep that trash if they want. I don't care. It does given NL teams an advantage in the WS, but that's part of the gamesmanship.

, I ended up falling asleep in the 8th .
Woke up like I missed the entire game with the Ben Maller guy cheering the booing and Hbps on the stros, 3 am ish. Thought the As made a comeback the way that idiot was so cheery.
All I remember is the homer from Alejandro. Trying to recollect my steps like a murder mystery right now.

Its dumb that there are two rules. NL fans didn't miss watching pitchers hit, despite it being the only thing they've ever known. The majority of Astros fans who followed them from the NL to the AL also don't miss rallies being killed by the pitcher coming up to bat, or having a pitcher strain something by overswinging, or getting hit on the finger trying to lay down a bunt. Pitchers are too valuable at their skill set to be spending extra time and risk on things they're never going to excel at. Fans also like to watch professional hitters hit.

In the end the players also do want it, as it opens up a potential starting job for half the league, but the owners have decided to make it a labor policy/contingency. Hopefully it all gets sorted out in the next CBA.

I also can't believe they kept the asinine extra inning rule (man at 2nd) for this year. If fans want to be romantic about something, how about that???

Its not as warm as it will be in a couple of months. In June that ball is in well up on Mt. Davis. The Astros also won't need any extra help hitting HR's, so I'd rather level the playing field so you don't see the pop fly variety that was a joke in last year's playoffs.

That is trash, didn't know that. They went back to the 2 WC playoff as well. I figured the expanded playoffs was here to stay, but that being said, I'm okay with it now that we are back to a full 162 game season.

The rules being different doesn't bother me all that much, but I wouldn't be upset if they did make the universal DH permanent. It's just not one of those things I get that worked up about one way or another. If it's such a consensus among everyone, then why were they not able to make it permanent already? Serious question, bc I don't know the details of the negotiation.

I liked those jokes, especially against the Athletics.

I'm for the DH for player safety, and wanting unified rules, but a lot NL fans missed the DH last year.

And they'll get over it like most all of us did when the Astros made the move to the AL. After a while, most of us were wondering why pitchers not named Babe Ruth ever hit.

Couldn't ask for a better start to the season. Emasculating the A's amidst the idiotic booing. I didn't watch the ESPN feed so I didn't hear their announcers saying anything...and I couldn't care less about their thoughts and feelings. It'll stop as we continue to win.

Please 'Stros give us something to root for!! Coogs and a long Astro season would help with the doldrums around here. Great way to start the year and tell those insufferable A's fans to suck it!

Wish I could get seats next to the A's bullpen when they come to town so I can throw pieces of cheese into it for the rat!

I had to shut it off, after I was half asleep through 8....I thought the last out of the bottom of the 8th was the 9th inning lol.

Watched the last inning on mlb.tv this morning. Love how Tmobile / sprint gives you that for free everyear. The black out restrictions suck....but the service is excellent. I was watching ESPN so it was nice to hear the att and 790 crew call the big plays this morning.

The signs and the taunting and the booing and the bs sports networks that still celebrate that crap when it happens is really damn pathetic at this point. We pieced the As 3 games to one in the ALDS just a few months ago, which was *checks notes* 3 YEARS after the "scandal" but yeah keep the boos Oak town.
