This dude doesn't want to win. LTS is the ultimate winner. He should sell the team with a binding clause that the new ownership will not move the Rockets out of Houston. TF shouldn't try to pull another Christian Wood type move with a top 4 pick, if we luck out with it.

It’s been ugly it’s been brutal and it’s been pathetic. This season has been a total clusterF! And if we don’t get the top 4 pick that’s just gonna put the cherry on top of this Sh!+ sundae!

    “Go all out”

    not pay the LT once

    edit.

“most injured team in the history of the nba”

yeah , just like his buddy trump he says **** like this authoritatively (as if it’s fact) , when I can guarantee (Without looking it up ) you that it is not the case .

did this guy even look into the nba ? I bet we aren’t even the most injured this year .

    By what metric Tilman ?

**** this guy . Constantly takes out of his ass and yet wants to be taken seriously .

Houston reporters need to call bs on him .

I’m a die hard rockets fan . I’ve even watched >50% of our games this year . I will not pay to go to Toyota center while this guy owns the team ...
Maybe if I get free tickets or something :)

Ironically, he dismantled the team starting 3 years ago. You continue to talk too much Tilman

its funny how he doesn’t realize he made the rockets suck and be that way for a very long time.

he should have followed the UH model and just worried about the money and stayed out of the way. Let the people who know what they’re doing when it comes to basketball actually do their jobs. If he was anywhere near close to trying to run Sampson’s program like he did for the rockets, he would have been out the door a long time ago.

My takeaway from this article is that TF is being overly optimistic about the state of the franchise. Duh, what else is he going to say? My opinion in no way absolves him of the missteps that he, as the owner of the team, has either taken or forced others to take. I am pleased that he acknowledged that this season (and possibly next) are going to be lean in order to try and rebuild. I agree that they could be back to respectability in just a season or so with the addition of a franchise player via their top 4 pick. That is the just so God damned important that is cannot be overstated IMHO.

One thing I want to add is my take on TF. While he has certainly been successful in business, he is not at the level of the guys you think of as filthy stinking rich. Those guys buy franchises to be their plaything or competitive outlet. Either way, they dont need them to be profitable, they need them to be winners. Fertitta is not in that category. He needs the Rockets to be profitable. I can only hope that he realizes that best way to do that is to build a winner that competes more often than not. I assume he does get that but I do worry that the need for a quick buck supercedes the goal of building a sustained winner.

I have zero interest in having an owner in China.

That’ how long it took the Lakers too. Fours yrs of sub-30 wins followed by 2 more lotto yrs. not until they swapped out the youngsters for AD .... but then ofc, they win it all, ‘cause Lebron.

He’s actually doing well, which is good for the Rockets

You must be talking about the food delivery one, maybe. His main spac for Fertitta Entertainment (the casinos and restaurants) is up 25% since going public in Feb. that’s good news

    https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/fst/

and the GNOG spac successfully ate all his pandemic debt on pure investor speculation (no revenue yet), which again is good news for Rockets fans. But that will be a golden opportunity missed if he can’t turn his online gaming licenses into actual profitable businesses. None of that is related to his real business empire, though — FST.

Fertitta is even dumber than I thought. A very challenging feat to accomplish, so props to him.

I don't know. Sometimes I wish Les didn't leave. I was never a big fan of him, but he wasn't bad.

He was one of the cheapest owners ever. If not for the miracle Harden trade, the team would STILL be stuck in mediocrity due to the owner refusing to allow the team to tank to rebuild because his ONLY concern was making money off the team.

I get the "Landry's man bad" crowd will likely never get beyond their cognitive bias, but Fertitta has not been bad thus far, in fact, he's allowing something this season that Les never would have in an effort to get back to contention more quickly.

I was pro tanking before we lucked into Harden. I agree with you Les was cheap. He did eventually pay the LT twice and he trusted Rudy and CD too much. Nevertheless, we did get better under him after a lot of pain.

I'm sure you're aware that the Rockets only have a 52 percent chance of retaining a top 4 pick in the upcoming draft. The Westbrook to OKC deal was much riskier than I thought. TF admitted that he pressed for it. I had no idea that there were so many conditions attached to it.

Yes, the same guy who sank millions and millions into UH so they could build one of the best basketball programs in the country is cheap AF.

Sure, he paid the LT twice....ever, but his ONLY priority was making money off the team. That never changed the whole time he owned the team. We lucked into the Harden deal and that's the only reason the team got better during the time Les owned the team. His actions led to many, many years stuck in mediocrity and it seems no one blames him for that while whining about every move Fertitta makes....even those where there's no legitimate alternative or when the alternative isn't any better.

There's whining that he didn't spend something like 80 million to keep Ariza, the worst player on the roster his final postseason here....would that really have been a smart move? Of course not, but that isn't going to stop people from whining about it.

There's whining about him forcing the Westbrook trade when the alternative was Harden forcing a trade sooner if he refused.

There's plenty of valid reasons to b**** and moan about Fertitta, but they aren't basketball related.

I really can't take anything that comes out of Tillman's mouth seriously.
