Trade to teams that are usually contenders but got their season derailed (LA 2019) or will have high draft picks already from prior trades. The only team that Harden might have approved a trade for that qualified was Golden State.

Not really. Looks good on paper, maybe, but we only added 4 FRPs due to the Harden deal:

    '22 BKN
    '23 MIL
    '24 BKN
    '26 BKN

All the rests are just swaps. Might be good, but only a slight chance any of them will be extremely good. They just as easily might not even be used at all.

This harden trade has got to be one of the worst returns for a superstar in nba history. Stone is trash

In 2027, Brooklyn might be bad and that might be a good pick! Maybe! And if it is, we might, maybe, get a good player in the draft instead of a bust!

Sounds like a great deal for an MVP player

Let's all pray for that in 2027, 6 years from now.

Draft picks are busts more often than they are stars.
This return for Harden is pretty garbage. New Orlenas got more for Davis....and for Jrue Holiday

These numbers are not surprising at all.

Except for Rockets def rating with Harden on court, and CP3 off court.

Did a spit take on that one.

Crazy how the Harden plays no defense meme has so much power, even amongst Rockets fans.

This table alone doesn't explain the teams record that year, death lineup, success versus Golden State, what happened in the 2 games after Paul went down, who else was on the floor during those times, whether Paul's complementary game enabled Hardens success by expanding the playbook defenses had to cover, whether Paul's effect on shot selection was important in driving overall team efficiency, or the why to any of the above. In a game with 6-10 rotation players x2 and refs and coaching adjustments, confounding variables abound for a stat like this. But I guess NBA Scholars like "CPOverrated" will keep us on our toes about this non-controversial topic.

On a less sarcastic note, the 2nd or 3rd most important ingredient that year, depending on where you rank Paul, was MouTuckeRiza. That three headed super switch high IQ trio of wings was a legit weapon. Rockets neglected that in 2019 and then overpaid to get Covington and Crapbrick and lost their 4th most important weapon to do so (a running, vertical center).

And here we are. Dantoni, Morey and Harden bailed like the ship was on fire. Not even gonna wait for it to sink. You hate to see it.

Now deduct the picks we attached to Chris Paul to get Westbrook.

"We traded Capela away a year after going to the WCF"

LOL. This is some revisionist BS right here. Capela was played off the court in the WCF and clutchfans was in uproar about it, remember when half this board started thinking Kevon Looney was better? We ended up trading CC because he was injured for the rest of the season. We traded him for Covington who shot 50% from 3 in the playoffs. Then we traded Covington for 2 picks. Then we traded one of those picks for Christian Wood.

If the Rockets land a top 4 pick this off-season you have to include that in what we got for Harden. If we didn’t trade Harden then we wouldn’t have that pick.

Great time to be a Nets fan! Man, if only players were jumping on board some of our teams back when Harden was here. He may have never left us.

The Nets have another roster spot so they are not done .Besides harden you really can’t rely on Kyrie to be available. They need more guard help

also, many teams inquired about Oladipo and were allegedly offering first picks.

Well, someone could say the exact same thing about your theory. Capela could very well may be a luxury tax trade from the looks of it and the very 1st step of Fertita cutting costs. You have good pick tracker there, but other than that, you are speculating as much as us. Someone could also say you are defending the owner when you really want to defend the team.

I’ve essentially convinced myself that the Rockets traded Harden and Tucker for two prospects, including one elite prospect (KPJ and Wilson), two playable vets (Augustin and Olynk), and a billion picks/swaps. It’s the only way I can sleep at night.
