Because he has a team option, so he is a trade asset this summer. Contracts that you can trade to another team, and they can cut right away, are potentially valuable.
Harden would not have remained a Rocket beyond this trade deadline. The Sixers deal was meh. Ben Simmons is not a #1 in any scenario. They could have AT LEAST gotten the Nets deal today if they waited on Harden. But absolutely ZERO chance they'd have as high of a lotto pick odds, heck if they were even in the lotto. GSW at .500 are in the play-in games right now. The chance at a top 4 pick, which might not happen, is a very tough thing to value and put your hopes on, but it is what it is. I am certainly envisioning nightmare scenarios where the Rockets finish 4th worst and the Thunder get lucky and jump above them, pushing them to 5th and the Thunder end up with both picks!!! But hopefully not, lol
Yeah, but it’s for like 6 million dollars. I’m not sure Tilman will want to pick that up for a guy who might not ever play at all.
ugh... he doesn't have to "pick it up". It's not complicated. There will be a date at some point in the offseason where whichever team Bradley is on will have to exercise, or not, the team option. Im not sure what that date is on this contract. Sometimes Spotrac website says, but not here. Before then he's tradeable. So at some point after the season is over, but BEFORE that date, the Rockets can trade him to a team looking to create more cap space. They'd trade the Rockets back a player with a guaranteed contract around that level and potentially a second round pick or something like that. Said team would do that because they want to sign a different player and need the cap space, or just generally want less salary on their payroll.
I couldnt be happier that i was working when this trade went down. I probably would’ve been fired if I saw it while on the job lol
Right, but the end result is the same dollar wise for Houston, and what has Tilman ever done to lead you to believe that he wouldn’t rather just let that expense expire (get bought out) and walk away rather than picking up another six million dollars on the payroll? It would be logical for most teams, but probably not this one. Not the way they are being run now anyway.
Look for him to be cut the day after the deadline to sign with a team and still be included on their playoff roster.
Trust or no trust, his franchise has them! Who knows... maybe he'll sell and the sales pitch is: look how many assets you have to build with. Then maybe MacKenzie Scott (Bezos wife) can buy the franchise and run it her way.
Dear Rafa Nobody in this leage will respect you, if you wait to the last minute to finally surrend and accept a terrible trade. You shouldn't take it. A good offer or nothing.
Players Victor Oladipo has been traded for since he entered the league: Serge Ibaka, Paul George, Caris Lavert and... Avery Bradley and Kelly Olynyk
Is someone going to tell Stephen Silas to stop starting Sterling Brown when KPJ is healthy? I understand that Coach Silas doesn't always get the memos of what the front office intentions are.
Stone got played by Riley. Rookie GM mistake. Hopefully he learns from it. Otherwise he won't last long in this league.
