That's fair, but if we hadn't traded Dipo would people be happy? It was either move off him or get what was offered.
Yea thats fair. I would not be happy because I wanted the Philly deal. But whatever, I just dont know why they made their own Brooklyn deal worse.
They are the one who said they are happy with the offers they got. I dont care how low you think Dipo's value is dudes a 2 way 20 pt scorer. You realize OKC got 2 second rounders for freaking George Hill? Rox couldnt even get a single pick had to settle for a draft swap that potentially makes their own pick much worse.
I think most here would prefer that deal, it features a DPOY and perennial all-star. If the Rockets really turned down Simmons for Harden out of spite that's just smh.
Its "only" not featuring Simmons. Maxey and Thybulle are total scrubs thats a bad deal. Plus, Rox didnt want to pay Levert's contract they sure as hell dont wanna pay 2 max deals for a bad team.
Well, that's just PR. Of course they are going to say positive things. But the fact is it was either get something from Oladipo or get nothing at all. Oladipo was playing terribly, always hurt, expiring, and wanted to go to Miami. If Dipo played better maybe we get a small bidding war between NY-Miami and other teams. His value was low. Miami even basically threatened that they would just sign him in the offseason.
Stone just isn’t a good GM. George Hill netted 2nd picks. For as bad as Dipo has been playing there is literally no way he wasn’t worth the same. Just a bad GM and a terrible owner. Not a good combo.
I think hill went for about the same...not much. Philly isn't sweating anything they gave away, it's such a low risk move.
2 second rounders is much better than a swap. And it doesnt make our pick potentially worse. Miami isnt sweating about Bradley and Olynk wtf. Its a no risk move Dipo better than those easily.
Harden for Simmons is all that matter, anything they get would have been bonus. Simmons is probably DPOY, a great playmaker and finisher, and will be on many All-NBA teams. It was the best reported deal out there
He is only on the defensive nba team not all nba team. He is ok return but given his salary is not better than 4 unprotected picks and 4 swaps for a rebuilding team. Getting him woulda capped the Rox out Wood, Simmons and Wall would be the team till their contracts expire thats a mediocre team.
These 2nd rounders are like low 50s...at this point in the draft it's completely random. A swap in the future is much better, hell, look at OKC, they're swapping with us this year. Dipo was garbage, if he continues to be Garbage he won't help Miami much.
Still better than a trade swap asset wise. 2 picks added to your stash is better than a swap. OKC aint swapping with us, they are swapping one of their garbage picks with us. Rox are a tanking team their picks are worth a lot that swap can potentially be nothing. Dipo will help Miami more than Bradley and Olynk thats for sure.
I don't know why people are assuming he's going to turn it around magically. He had every reason to be motivated and prove he was worth a max contract...and he did the exact opposite. Could barely handle the ball, finish, shoot, or pass. He looked really bad for us, either its injury or his best days are behind him.
