Aaron Gordon and Ex Rockets legend Gary Clark went to Nuggets for Gary Harris, RJ Hampton and a first rounder.
So is this how it's going to be now. If teams are trading their core player and they're able to do their player a solid (on preferred destinations). Most them guys wouldn't want to come to a losing team, Stone is at a disadvantage when negotiating. Unless Stone outlandishly overpay, which no one wants, players won't want to come to a rebuild. Age timeline aside. If you get a valuable piece it's still possible to flip that person. Though... Dipo seems to be getting a cold shoulders by other GMs with them low ball offers.
I'm not sure why we're getting this "rebuild" talk... we lost 20 in a row basically playing with no big men and a loss of 3 starters... most teams would lose at least 15 of those games... They have talent on the roster, they lack cohesion and consistency with the lineup... that's a 1 year turn around...
Sounds like we dodged a bullet here - Gordon makes way more sense as a ceiling raiser for a title contending team - NOT as a floor raiser on a lottery bound one.
I'm glad that AG is going to a team whose fanbase appreciates him. This organization is a shetshow. 44% catch and shoot 3P. Of course we dont want him.
wow. The teams he’s been on all this time just have been pretty solid then!!! I think he was even playing next to an all-star!!
Sounds worse, but Olynyk has performed almost identical to Gordon and has a smaller contract and we didn't have to give up picks to get him... Older player, but I wouldn't mind keep him for 8-12 million as a backup 5 and possibly starting 4 in the short term... I would try to do a short extension to line up with Wall's deal expiring...
44%? WOW... You know what he's done the other seasons (other than this fraction of a season): 2019-20: 32.5% 2018-19: 36.5% 2017-18: 39.2% 2016-17: 31.6% 2015-16: 30.5% 2014-15: 25.0% Olynyk is a VASTLY better shooter in his career. Aaron Gordon is closer to Russell Westbrook as a 3pt shooter in his career than Olynyk... The gap between Gordon and Olynyk is more than double between Westbrook and Gordon at career 3pt%. But enjoy your small sample size...
If you told me all things equal I take the younger player in Aaron Gordon and hope he improves (because he needs to). Olynyk is 4 years older but virtually identical production in his career but comes with better size, a cheaper contract, and lower trade cost. He's a stop gap in Denver... Porter is their future 4... I would be surprised to see him stay there beyond next season...
