yeah people don't realize how much things like confidence can mean to fringe rotation players like ben. the difference in struggling shooter ben mclemore who can't get on the court because his defense sucks and 40% shooter ben mclemore who plays 20 mpg might be the confidence to know that he should shoot any time he can even remotely see the basket. doesn't have to think about it, doesn't have to question whether this is his shot, whether he should be moving around or moving the ball. just shoot and we'll take you out of the game if we need to, but otherwise just keep firing. you might ideally want a player who only takes the best shots and helps run the offense, but if the player can't handle it, then realizing that he just needs to fire away might be the best way to use him. MDA (and harden) took mclemore and gerald green off their couches and into an nba rotation by just giving them open shots and the confidence to take them.

 

My pitch here

you'd take every trade in NBA history for which there's data (I guess, you have to cut off around the time the salary cap becomes a thing)

Backfill all of that **** into something like the trade checker with salary data etc. Map features also for team profiles like team record, cap status, etc and develop some classification for various trades from each teams perspective(dumping
salary/win now/rebuild)

Then somehow use old things like when tweets used to be on papers (I think they were called "news clippings"? IDK) about potential trades that were discussed and feed those things in as non-consumated trades as well. Then train your model agaisnt that (see if it can identify the executed trades against the non-executed ones)

As I've previously posted, Pelicans remain a dark horse contender, due to the obvious NOLADIPO! tie-ins.

Well, with Orlando moving Vucevic and possibly Fournier, there's some space, and guess what, it's Florida, it's disney world, for fks sake, the T-shirt and merch game is on par with that of the Big Easy.

ORLANDIPO and DIPO-TOWN both being heavily discussed as attractive marketing opps for Oladipo. Developing....

 

If Philly lands Lowry, I can definitely see Miami making a desperation move. Hope it works in our favor.
