You bring up a great point too. I think (or hope at least) Silas' inexperience as a HC is preventing him from being able to do this but will get better with time to recognize how to utilize your role players better.

 

I'm troubled at someone's observation in some other thread where Silas is putting players in their worst positions as far as shooting percentages are concerned. That's a huge red flag for someone that is offensive minded.

 

Would love to see Mario Elie come in as an assistant this offseason. Having been a role player he would have some insight into this exact issue. Maybe if Weaver gets poached?

 

These mofos always favor model accuracy over model interpretability and this is the result. FFS just use a random forest and plot the damn thing with error bars.

(btw I bet that developing this model could be a real-life Kaggle competition, although I don't know how one would go about gathering the data in the first place)

 

I think he's just feeling out his players at this point. Most of these guys haven't been in the league long to Silas really don't know what he has.

 

Alot of them should not even be in the league.

 

For me the jury's still out on whether or not Silas is a good coach until he gets a "normal" NBA season under his belt. Perhaps it'll get better next year because he should be familiar with Wood, KPJ, Tate, etc after this year to know how to properly utilize them.
