I haven't been told much about the Rockets and Siakam, I have mostly heard Powell linked to the Rockets.... the Rockets oddly seem to want a guard.

Probably Powell, but Spicy-P and Wood would be fun to watch.

5 Out on offense, switch everything on defense.

    For the most part.

But a SG has to be better 3P shooter than 32%.

That's not enough. We need a future top 10 pick along with him at the least.

I like Powell's prospect on the Rockets.

He has been consistent with 60%+ TS for the past three seasons. The rockets need to build around efficient players (Wood, Tate as opposed to Oladipo, Wall). I do have some reservations about his defense, his passing ability and apparently, his age at 27 year-old.

That being said, I think the Rockets are valuing players not only by potential, rebuilding timeline, but also through the lens of contract tradability going forward. Both AG and Powell should be considered easily tradable assets going forward.

Yeah, those are all good players. But even with those guys, who are they beating out? LAL, LAC, Den, Utah, Port, Pho, Dallas, SA, Mem, GS? That is just for a play in spot...

Andre Drummond rumors to Rockets are out there. Yes, a big negative defensively and a ball hog once he gets it. But a 15/15 double machine. I treasure rebounding enough I would be ok with him at the right price. Him and Wood would be a boarding issue for the other team for once, it would be worth a flyer just for this potential scenario.

    Like Powell better than Herro.

IF Rockets absolutely must trade for another guard.

Those are all good points, but the league changes quickly and I think they could possibly beat out a handful of those teams or be tightly bunched with them.... I just want to avoid becoming Portand or Dallas or even San Antonio; teams that can win games but aren't winning many playoff series.

I actually like Powell the best of any name we have been linked to.

I think it's sensible given that both Eric Gordon and Wall are not in the long term plans for this team. At best, you have Powell as your starting guard for the next few years after an extension is agreed upon. At worst, you lock your 6th man in for the next few years after an extension is agreed upon. I know Powell wants to or expects to get paid but a deal like 4 years $64 million with a player option on the 4th can't be bad imo.

On the other hand, measured competitiveness might 1) attract star players to come and play for the Rockets and 2) give young guys better avenues to grow

Maybe we can sell the front office on this one with some analytics. How much does our shooting percentage goes up based on his cheap put backs from Offensive Boards? In theory our 30% threes would be more like 35% with his garbage points input. Not to mention we would not have to watch the other team get four or five shots at the bucket during crunch time in one possession.

he is tho...just because Herro is struggling shooting so far this season, that doesn’t mean he’s not a good shooter

Do people really believe that 32% is indicative of Herro’s actual shooting ability from deep? He shot 39% from 3 on 5 attempts a game just last season as a rookie and 38% on 6 attempts a game in the playoffs

    I prefer Snell to Powell.

Younger, longer, better 3ball and much better defender.

    Small sample size though.

He only played lights out for short period in the bubble.
