I can safely say that South Asian immigrants and recent citizens are pretty damn racist towards African Americans. It's a problem.

That's from my experience from being raised in a South Asian houshold and having family friends that are South Asian.

I have similar experiences, and I agree. But "racism" has different meanings. There's the traditional meaning of the word -- fear or dislike of someone based only on their skin color. That exists, for sure.

And there's the expanded and more recent meaning -- which is supporting a system that disproportionately benefits white people over those who are BIPOC. This is cast as a form of "white supremacist thinking" that further entrenches systemic racism and sustains white dominance. Advocating meritocracy and being against affirmative action -- even if for seemingly benign reasons -- would be examples of this form of racism.

Or she’s using that as an excuse because the kids are academically successful
And obviously studied hard to make the grades

She is a hater whose kid got beat out by an Asian kid, plain and simple.

She is also stupid to think she could have said stuff like this and continue in that position.

Has she commented about this yet?

She is blaming this on some kids being mean to other kids in middle school.

    And the 2016 election.

"A number of tweets and social media posts I made in 2016 have recently been highlighted. They have been taken out of context, both of that specific moment and the nuance of the conversation that took place. President Donald Trump had just won an election fueled by division, racism and an anti-immigration agenda. Meanwhile one of my daughters had recently experienced an incident in her school in which her Asian American peers were taunting her Latinx classmate about “sending kids back to Mexico” and the KKK. It was a time of processing, of fear among many communities with the unknown of how the next four years would unfold."

She then tries to wipe it all away.

But whether my tweets are being taken out of context or not, only one thing matters right now. And that is the pain our Asian American brothers and sisters and siblings are experiencing. Words have meaning and impact. Trump showed us that clearly with his sowing of hate and pitting communities of color against one another for political gain. I acknowledge that right now, in this moment my words taken out of context can be causing more pain for those who are already suffering. For the pain my words may have caused I am sorry, and I apologize unreservedly.

What context should those comments be taken in that would make them ok?

    Here is the entire statement.

From what I seem to be reading lately from some groups, that would be a hard "no". The future is bright...

To be fair, as far as i've seen from my experiences and looking at the school board in the district i teach, they're all complete trash and scum who couldn't care less about anyone outside of themselves, so she's no different.

The core of the issue is she is miserable and self hating on the inside, so she wants everyone else to feel that way to relate. That is why the far left pushed so many to vote for Trump. Too biased because of her childs skin color to see the truth and how capitalism works... these types will never complain about the lack of diversity in the NBA or the hate Lin got from Melo and others when he received a contract -- that was textbook racism . Like all "groups" , Asians will have their biases (hint... so do latino's whites blacks EVERYONE), but it comes down to the fact they win out in merit related fields by a wide margin, cause minimal problems no matter how poor and she is threatened. Fire her and let the NBA hire her for player recruitment.

Yeah, y'all pay attention to your school board votes.
Not usually national news, but think about your own school board. Full of nutters, coast to coast.

Also, encourage @tinman to find and fulfill his destiny, moving to SF, a city living rent free in his head all day every day.

Sadly accurate, @B-Bob, but let's not forget state boards of education. Often overlooked here in Texas, the highly partisan Texas Board of Education has been a nightmare for local boards, especially those in the major cities of the state, all controlled by Democrats. It's made up of 15 elected members with districts drawn by the our Republican legislature (the Lege is working on drawing up districts now - the outcome of the election in November was a bitter disappointment for our state's Democrats - it certainly bummed me out)). Democrats had targeted 3 seats on the board, but only took one of them, leaving the GOP with 10 of the 15 seats. Here's a taste of what that has meant for Texans and the education received by our children, from the excellent Texas Tribune:

The board determines what millions of Texas public school students learn in classrooms and is responsible for adopting textbooks, changing curriculum standards and approving new charter school operators. In past years, board meetings have been a lightning rod for national attention due to dramatic debates about racist ethnic studies textbook proposals, abstinence-focused sex education standards and creationist biology standards.

Thank goodness there’s still merit based schools like magnet programs in Texas so all the kids who make the grade can go.

I don’t remember an incident where they are mad about smart kids being smart

this lunatic doesn’t like smart kids because their parents raised them to be smart
