They are one of the best ran organizations. They are excellent at developing talent (Siakam, Powell, Van Fleet, Anuoby and Boucher). They also have a top notch front office and coaching staff and are one of the most progressive organizations as far as being in tune with what the newest trends are. It isn’t there fault Leonard left, and Gasol, Lowry and Ibaka got old. The Raptors are entering a rebuild so I am not sure why you are criticizing them? They didn’t run off their GM, head coach and the best player in the world and they spent money to maximize their contending window.
Wow your good @Nook I got to give it you...but with all that being said about Toronto and yet they are only 4 spots ahead of the rockets in standings rockets are currently third worse team in the league and Toronto is 7th. And yet they only have 5 more wins then the rockets...and that’s with the rockets going on a 20 game losing streak. And that’s with the “best player in the world” waking up one day saying he wants out of Houston. And that’s with the former GM being a snake a saw another opportunity and taking it after Houston didn’t fire or suspend him after backlash from a certain tweet. Houston has had almost every team take our front office people away for the last couple of years...Houston was a legit playoff contender and championship contender for years...Houston has been better then Toronto in every way you want to slice it until Toronto robbed San Antonio and got kawhi and won a ring against a decimated GS squad. And please don’t take my response wrong @Nook not trying to come off a certain way or anything I love and appreciate all your takes and inside info and everything. And I get everybody frustration and what have you at the rockets right now...but to say that Houston has been or is one of the worse run organizations in the NBA is just flat out wrong.
Over the last 12 months the Rockets have been one of the worst organizations in the league and I don’t see how that is even debatable. Their owner is so toxic that the GM did everything possible to leave, the head coach after came out and said he didn’t want to come back. Arguably the best player in the world did everything possible to leave. The Rockets had a disaster of a trade for Westbrook... please tell me over the last year and a half what teams have been ran more poorly? If you want to talk about decisions made several years ago, that is a different situation and I defended the moves made by the Rockets and stated they were one of the best ran teams in the organizations. In basketball who owns the team typically matters. Owners can learn from their mistakes... but since Tilman Fertitta has bought the Rockets things have gone south and a lot of that is because of decisions made by ownership. FWIW I defended Patrick Fertitta the other day and said that it is possible that he will prove to be better than his father.
This is a tangent, but I’ve always been curious and respect your opinion: did anyone in Toronto really think they had a chance to re-sign Leonard after 2019 or was it clear once he entered free agency that he was using them for leverage?
