This is a bizarre story. Siakam fined for getting spicy with Nick Nurse. I wonder if this relationship is salvageable or if it's bone on bone.
Nick Nurse is going to win that power struggle. While Siakam is a nice player, he isn't a franchise player.
If we still had Harden, easily, he’s shown enough to gamble on for a team in that position. He looked really good next to Leonard. For us right now? Hell naw. Doesn’t fit our timeline, he’d make us just good enough to sabotage our chances at a good pick over the next couple of years, and he’s simply a bad 1st option, he’s not good at creating for himself, he needs to be next to a superstar to be his most effective, Spicy P is a rock solid 3rd option.
Probably not. There are a few reasons. The first is that he really isn't a very efficient player and if you dig deeper into his advanced statistics this year, you will see he has been bad on the defensive side of the ball. He just doesn't seem engaged. Also my concern with him is that he is good enough for an extra 5 meaningless wins a year and that would cost us in the lottery. Hypothetically speak if AFTER the draft the Raptors came to me and said they would deal him for a pair of #1's with top ten protections I would consider it if I got Cunningham in the draft.... because if the Rockets get Cunningham, then they likely are not going to be high in the lottery the next few years. The Rockets could put out a backcourt of Porter and Cunningham and have Wood and Siakam inside ..... and have trade assets sufficient to add another long forward to start. The only way a team of Cunningham/Porter/__Siakam/Wood would win a title is if Cunningham or Porter developed into top 5 players.... but that is the case regardless. However, if Toronto wanted two firsts right this minute, I don't think I do it.... it is all about timing. Honestly, If Toronto called I would probably ask what they want for Nurse.
Pretty crazy how the Raptors won the title only 2 years ago. Now? Kawhi gone. Ibaka gone. Gasol gone. Lowry probably gone. Siakam acting a fool.
