Polar bears are straight carnivores, brown/grizzly bears are 90% carnivores, black bears are the veggie/omnivores I was talking about that people ate.

There's also the saying, in case you need it: "Black, fight back. Brown, lay down. White, good night."

There's a reason there's no advice to survive a polar bear attack.

You've contradicted yourself twice, asked theoretical questions that were already answered, and then said you don't like inconsistency...

I have no idea what your actual point is.

True. But it's telling that the people who actually live with them don't think the same way, haha.

And honestly, it's a pretty crappy thing to do to Australia. As noted they export $80m in roo meat to the US yearly. Did Australia wrong us somehow that we're punishing them like this?

Ironic that we eat a bajillion cows even though I'm sure India doesn't want us to, and now we're insisting on not eating kangaroos that Australia does want us to eat. Just contrary by nature, we are. :p

Here is why... they need to look busy while not actually helping us by standing up for American values and principles.

I don’t know where you saw me contradict myself. Apologies for being incoherent.

The point I tried to make is, on the topic of banning consumption of animals (for non sanitary, health or endangerment factors), it’s ultimately been a cultural decision that is based off of our feeling towards said animal.

So if we decided to ban kangaroo meat for cultural feelings towards the animal, it would be within order.

Yeah it’s odd because it’s not an animal we actually have here, but I can say I get it because my reaction to figuring out kangaroos were eaten when I was a teen was “wtf”

It’s one of those things in American culture, they are in the cartoons / movies, a lot of people don’t view it as a farm/eating animal. It’s not a pet either, but it’s probably what a I would describe as being similar to a monkey. People eat monkeys in other places, but my reaction to that is “wtf” so if America decided to ban eating kangaroos, I’d understand it. We ultimately have the president of banning the consumption of animals based off of our emotional feelings towards such animals.

Gotcha now. My bad, I was eating a venison (organic, free-range, gluten-free, sustainable, pain-free, grass-fed, etc...) fajita taco. No joke.

Of course all our life decisions are based on feelings, right?...aren't yours? Of course things change across times and cultures.

As I've already said, there's a small few categories of animals that get special treatment from modern humans, it's been a social contract going back thousands upon thousands of years. They evolved with us.

If you ban kangaroo then you should also ban all wild fishes and game.
Kangaroos are like pest and for sure not anywhere near endangered.

Having said that I have eaten it once and it was godawful livery meat so I wouldn't miss it.

I have also been served and eaten once - without my knowledge brown bear;s cheek. Extremely fatty meat.
Almost made me puke out of shame and anger after being told what it is.

It is an endagered species in the country and was illegally killed by mountain sheep herders in the village I was visiting, after it killed their flock. :(

If the operating factor in legality of animal consumption was said animals effects on the environment, then we should be eating cats because they absolutely skull f*ck birds

That’s honestly a weird/sad thing. I think they take machine guns out into the bush in Australia to try to crack down on the cat populations. It’s especially important in countries like AU/NZ because so much of their native wildlife is endangered.

... and maybe we should be eating cats and the operating factor on what meats we eat should be their effects on the environment? If Texas banned all other meats outside of hog, just until their incredibly large and destructive population were eaten, I bet the sum b****es would be extinct here by Christmas.

Dumbest thing I have ever heard. No good reason to ban it. Probably dumb animal right activists with nothing better to do. Ugh.

I wonder if these same people eat veal or lamb. I don't eat baby animals but many people do. I don't see eating kangaroos any worse than lamb or veal.
