What will be most telling is whether Republicans actually care about he conditions at the border are if they will support more funding to update facilities holding children and more staff to process them faster so they aren't being held for so long.

I know, but I see the media really letting the Republicans define the narrative right now and that just needs to change. If you live in Michigan, or Wisconsin you are sort of taking MSBNC or CNN's word for it that there literally is a crisis when there is not. The Biden admin and the Democrats really need to not allow these narratives to take hold because there's really nothing to be embarrassed or defend against right at this second. Running scared and just playing clean up defense is why the Democrats will lose in 2022 and 24 on an issue like Immigration.

Ellis Island is a monument to the past, but Brownsville is the Ellis Island of the present.... we need an infrastructure bill now to handle and celebrate our needs to preserve our American system.

That's the kind of messaging that needs to happen now, and pass a bill on immigration after removing the filibuster nobody gives a sh$t about that you can celebrate & campaign on.

Dems don't really defend themselves or ever will they just expect people not to be stupid. Meanwhile Fox news and Facebook are rampantly planting their bad seeds for their next presidential run.

Damn that Biden, he's had 50 days and hasn't solved this!

I think fewer and fewer people actually give any credence to repugs pronouncements. They are proven liars that will say anything in pursuit of power for their overlords. It will be 4 years of Peter crying wolf.

Eh. Feels like separating children from family as a migration deterrent was the bigger issue, followed by the conditions.

It actually is still an issue and Democrats are having issues with the lack of transparency.

Sort of like how caravans of migrants coming to the border while Trump is President are a migrant invasion and not the President's fault but while a lot of migrants coming to the border while Biden is President is the President's fault.

I will match blanket for blanket any clutch fan member who donate blankets to this crisis. I am tired of seeing these aluminum foil blankets on these immigrants. It is the least we can do. PM me.

    It won't work.

Trump wed himself to tightly to extreme border control, it is too polarizing. No one outside of people that wouldn't vote for Biden under any circumstances are going to believe the Republicans concerns.

The ONLY way it will hurt Democrats is if Biden lets the problem fester and some moderates decide it is time for a more draconian response like what Trump's administration wants to do.

There is no obvious solution to this and Biden will likely take steps to decrease the number of asylum seekers that reach the border through agreements with Mexico to do the dirty work or sending them back where they came from.

It is my understanding that they are not allowed to have other types of blankets in the initial holding area and are given blankets later once they have been seen by doctors.

Donald Trump made it an issue in the 2016 campaign. Both parties had left it alone for decades because it was not an issue with a viable solution. People were shocked and outraged with what they saw, especially in light of the comments made by the President and Stephen Miller and Steve Bannon. People have now seen it for four years and are relatively desensitized by it.

There is still no viable solution and Biden is going to let Mexico do the dirty work most likely.

Automotive jobs are coming to Mexico from all over the globe. While Ford will be increasing their automotive jobs in Mexico, so is Germany and other countries.

Americans will not work for what these companies are able to pay Mexicans to do the work. Also these automotive companies are granted far more control and say in Mexico than in America.

In a warped since, American and Western prosperity is why these jobs are going to Mexico.
