As long as Silas is the coach our tank is unstoppable.

Eh CP3 is one of the best "coaches on the floor" players the league has ever seen. Wall isn't that. He had developed tunnel vision and plays for himself. He isn't going to transcend OKC like CP3 is did with the Thunder and Suns.

I would gladly give up Oladipo for him as well.

A player like Gordon is nice because he can fit into almost any situation the Rockets find themselves in.

If the Rockets ended up with Mobley at center, then Gordon could slide over to the 3.... anyone else and he can play the 4 with Wood at the 5.

btw, I'd trade two firsts for Gordon: the "swapped first" with Milwaukee that we got as part of the PJ trade, and the Nets 2022 pick. These should both be late first rounders.

I did think about it, but I don't think he can come back near his best. Injuries and rotation changes have decimated the team. No thanks.

I'm sure you had same concerns with Nwaba.

We discussed the circumstances surrounding Oladipo and the Rockets a few weeks ago, and it does not appear that situation has changed. Houston is still asking for a first-round pick and then some in any deal for Oladipo, sources said, and the Rockets front office has not expressed much interest in taking back long-term money in exchange for the former All-Star guard. They instead continue to seek younger players on value contracts, or even an additional first-rounder. "When they traded him they thought his value was higher than it was," said one Western Conference executive.

New York and Miami remain the teams most consistently rumored as Oladipo landing spots among league personnel. How much either franchise will be willing to offer, though, remains to be seen. "I think both New York and Miami believe they can get him in free agency," said another rival executive.

There's also a segment of the Knicks front office, sources said, who are against surrendering draft capital now for any player they could presumably sign this summer. New York, too, has messaged an interest in using its $15 million in salary-cap space to facilitate deals as a third team.

One latest potential Oladipo suitor to keep an eye on is Atlanta. The Hawks have made Bogdan Bogdanovic and Cam Reddish available, sources said, as the front office is purportedly searching to upgrade its crowded wing rotation.

This. I think the thinking is perhaps whatever the direction the Rockets are taking, he could be useful and a versatile piece in any configurations of line-ups.

Jeff Green has always been an ok shooter. His FT% for his career is 80%. His career 3pt% is .338.

Gordon's career FT% is under 70%. The only reason why anyone thinks he can shoot is because of the small sample.

Because the only "real centers" in the NBA are actual MVP candidates. Nobody is playing the kind of center that you and I grew up watching unless they are Joel Embiid or Nikola Jokic (and btw, those guys aren't actually what we watched growing up either because they hit threes and pass better than anybody not named Vlade).

    On to Aaron Gordon.

The pros: I am somewhat intrigued by the idea of pairing up Aaron Gordon with Christian Wood. It's more size than we've had in ages in the front court but both are also capable of putting the ball on the floor at the 3 point line and driving to the basket. Both can pass. Both can shoot the 3 (although I worry that Gordon is going to revert back to his normal 34ish percent 3 point shooting before the season is over). You can envision how that would look in Sila's system (and uh, go ahead and watch footage of Dallas last year for evidence of that, not this god forsaken team we are putting on the floor right now). If the ping pong balls go our way and we're able to pick up Cade Cunningham in the draft, then a Cunningham, KPJ, Tate, Wood, Gordon lineup would be a very nice young nucleus. You can even see the possibility of Cunningham being that Luka/Harden like MVP candidate and KPJ breaking out to all-star level while Wood continues to play at borderline all-star level. In that case, that team would be insanely fun to watch even if we're not immediately competitive. So those are the pros of acquiring Gordon.

    The cons:
Gordon is going to be a free agent in a year. I'm nervous about what he'll ask for on his next contract. He's not a guy I want to consider giving anywhere near a max contract to. Hell, I'm not even sure I want to pay AG like we paid EG. So the idea of giving up two first round picks for a guy who may only wear the jersey for a year or so? Seems like a very steep price. It also limits our flexibility in acquiring other stars that shake loose. Like Daryl Morey said, 1st round picks are like cigarettes in prison. They are the main form of currency. What Daryl didn't say is that you certainly don't want to get caught without cigarettes in prison and finding yourself in the position that you have to pay through *ahem* other means. I'd also add that Aaron Gordon has averaged between 28-32 minutes per game for the last 5 seasons (including this one) and has yet to break out. He is a far cry from a Christian Wood in that Orlando has certainly invested in him and given him every opportunity to succeed in this league. And yet he's not performing at the level of Christian Wood and never has.

Conclusion: If we could flip Oladipo for him straight up I would be over the moon with that. It would allow us to audition him for a year and move him in the off season or next deadline if we decide we don't want to pay him. If we have to give up multiple picks to get him, I'm just not sure that's a price I'm willing to pay.

I would trade Oladipo for him no problem. I wouldn't attach any first round picks tho.

    I hope I'm wrong.

I don't think he's coming as a first-second option, but a 3rd/4th option with versatile defense capabilities, someone that would be helpful under any team building trajectory (and someone that would healthily retain value going forward given the direction the league is taking overall). I also think they'd likely throw him an extension next year if they get him.

    Cade
    KPJ
    Tate
    Gordon
    Wood

No one has said AG is 1st, 2nd option - that's a weird narrative.

Porter-Wood are still the future go to players on the Rockets.

But until Wall traded or bought out, he is still 1st option.

    Unfortunately.

Plus add the fact that Wall probably gets knee scoped and sits the rest of the season, Dipo/Sterling/House/McLemore get shipped out, new players coming in take a month to get use to Silas system. Play Patton, Armoni Brooks, Kenyon, Martin, Lamb, Trevlin Queen, Occeus more minutes.

We will be alrite. Convince Aaron Gordon to rest more coming off the injury he had.

    Magic are bonkers.

No one attaching a 1st for either Ross or Fournier (expiring).

It makes sense that they'd put out this kind of rhetoric though, they want to get the best offers possible.....I highly doubt they actually think they'll get all of that.
