Strange game. After the ridiculously officiated first half, I’m not sure Rutgers went to the line in the second. Just a bizarre game, but this team has BALLS. Sampson should be coach of the year.

And to make it even more strange, Rutgers long time radio guy and former coach Joe Boylan apparently died just before the game. Hate that for those guys. What a lousy night for them.

Shooting from memory here, but the Michigan play was guy came off a screen and had an open look at a long shot that he had practiced. Tonight a guy ran forward to create space and passed back to Harper for the shot. This time Grimes was there and Harper had to step to the side and it knocked him out of rhythm.

    Progress

The Coogs were lucky to win tonight.

The last 3 mins of really good play made up for 37 mins of disjointed play.

Damn this team has a legit shot at the final 4. I’m not a cougar but both my parents are. Will be fun to watch this team.

Late game this Saturday, 8:55pm central time. With an Eastern and Central time zone team playing surprised they gave us the latest time slot.

Sugar, even the last 3 minutes were shaky. We missed layups, free throws, open threes, and defensive assignments. There are only two things I can put my finger on as to why we won, because for the life of me I don't know how, but two fingers on heart and Offensive rebounding. The two things we are known for. There's no other explanation. Call Christopher Nolan. Heart and Offensive Rebounding.

bump this bc this is what they do and preach as a program.

absolutely fitting to see what they practice over and over, reap its benefits in the most meaningful times

If Sampson could get his boys to take the first or second look they get on offense routinely this team would be absolute monster on both ends of the floor.

Dribbling out the shotclock and chucking up an off-balance midrange jumper is absolutely killing us. It might as well just be a freaking turnover. And if Grimes or Sasser go cold, it's nearly an impossible hole to climb out of.

Luckily Rutgers was one of the more physical/defensive teams we could face in our region, so I hope we don't get bodied that badly again.

    mark misses a free throw - 4:33
    lost a winnable defensive rebound - 3:50
jurreau gets left to die in a trap - 3:43
missed two pointblank shots and lost a gimmie offensive rebound after - 3:30
grimes hurts his arm and bricks two free throws - 2:53
    jurreau misses a free throw - 1:53
grimes misses another free throw - 1:04

we had a lot of miscues and even some bad bounces during the comeback, the fact is rutgers just outdid us by putting together 5 minutes of the worst basketball i've seen in a while

Iirc after Grimes missed FTs he shot a 3 on the rebound. Weird situation where they messed up and got a better result.
