I want to believe that people are ready to do something about it that will help. Complaining about a president that already lost an election wont help much. In my opinion.

This stuff still would've happened even without Trump rhetoric, it just added fuel to the fire. Even after 9/11, East and Southeast Asians did encounter an enormous flashwave of hate because it ultimately became an excuse to hate all minorities. 9/11 along with my experiences afterwards left me clinically depressed and I've yet to recover from that.

 

Id rather have more police resources sent to chinatown.

You know, like proven law enforcement, crime prevention strategies. I actually care about this issue that has been a problem for decades.

 

I agree this has been n issue for decades. It was in the 80’s when Vincent Chin was killed and the Klan burned Vietnamese shrimp boats in Kemah. That said it’s very obvious that bias and bigotry towards Asians has greatly increased in the last year and that rhetoric blaming the PRC, Chinese culture and Chinese people themselves has fueled it.

We’ve even seen it here in Clutchfans.

 

The solution "law enforcement" you present is part of the problem. Internal polling suggests around 80% of law enforcement votes for Orange Cheeto.

The overwhelming percentage of law enforcement is right wing and contribute to the bigoted rhetoric. Go to any social law enforcement group like on facebook and just read the rhetoric they spew. The damn police captian who was the initial spokesman for the mass shooting of Asian woman was promoting "chy-na virus" paraphernalia.

Cops aren't part of the solution here until we severely change the type of person recruited in law enforcement careers in this nation.

 

Yes bigotry towards Asians was going on whether there was a pandemic or not but the statistics show a marked increase in the past year. Many of these attacks have been specifically tied to the pandemic and blaming Asians for the disease.

That so many people not only use the rhetoric but defend it show that it is playing a role. If the rhetoric was meaningless there wouldn’t be so much of a controversy around justifying it.

 

Just to note Kevin McCarthy was the same guy reading Dr. Suess on the floor of the House at the time the COVID-19 relief bill was being debated. That should tell you what he thinks is important.

all these victims were standing around , waiting for a bus, walking across the street, standing in front of a shop.
the laws in san francisco and oakland make theft a petty crime that they hardly prosecute so there's incentive for criminals
to do crime

Nothing this bad in Texas. Especially Houston because people are forced to be around everybody because of no zoning. Houston is like Michael Jackson's dream of healing the world.
