I love everything you said....but I think it would take something we wouldn’t want to do to get that Minny pick.....or as you said maybe it’s impossible altogether
According to a couple of those GSW-Oladipo reports, Houston does *NOT* want to take back Wiggins’ contract in a potential Oladipo trade. Which I don’t understand why since rebuilding teams typically take on bad contracts for assets. Oladipo + House for Minny pick and Wiggins’ contract should be enough. Especially when you consider the fact that if the Minny pick doesn’t convey this year, there’s a good chance that pick is in the mid-teen’s next year. The Finch hiring, Anthony Edwards and Towns, along with another top 3 pick to that core, the Wolves will be a fringe playoff team. I previously advocated I would even throw in C Wood to get Wiseman as well.
I’d love to get that pick, and we should be all about trying to make that work. I hope our owner has the patience and vision to take advantage of opportunities and not short change the rebuilding process. I worry about that. We need to be playing the long game on this.
Wonder if the following would be workable: HOU gets: Kevon Looney Alen Smailagic 2021 MIN first rounder NYK gets: Kelly Oubre GSW gets: Victor Oladipo Danuel House 2021 MIL first rounder 2021 DET second rounder
I would like to think it could but I think that Minny pick will always be attached to dropping the Wiggins dead weight and provide some later LTS flexibility. It has to be the second worst contract remaining behind Wall. I'm being facetious because I just cannot remember right now but that might be accurate after all. If we could get the 1st pick and that pick got bumped to 4 or 5 after we get it in trade...
Sorry, but the Warriors would never bite on that. It is a poor return for a potential #1 draft pick. The only scenario they trade that pick is attached to Wiggins, and for a decent "immediate result" return.
Nwaba is injured. I assume KJM and the lowest FRP in this draft might do the trick, but I haven't seen Winslow play for a long time. He doesn't have a jumper. Is it worth going after him. I wish to add @ApacheWarrior and @Nook to this discussion along with you.
So we are talking about Memphis and Houston In the deal of Dipo/Nwaba x Winslow/Melton; both players from Houston are considered rentals as both are free agents at season's end. I see Memphis is 10th seed but only 5 games from Denver/Portland......with 32 games left on the schedule. Justice Winslow has a player option on his $13M next season. If I'm him, I probably don't exercise that option and stay with the money amount the way it is. Not sure too many teams will pay him more off of his 7 to 8 points per game while shooting about 15% from 3. Melton would be solid at about 9 points a game (averaging 20 minutes a game) and 40% from 3. Under contract that descends in dollar amount from $9.6M to $8M (non guaranteed in that final season of 23/24). I'm pretty sure Patrick Fertitta brought DJ Augustin in to help after guards Oladipo/Sterling Brown/McLemore/(Nwaba?) are shipped out. The thinking being let's bring back SF"s, PF's, and Centers in return; but it's possible P Fertitta wants to collect all the guards in the league. After the trade the Rockets will have: PG) Wall.......................(Irving Porter, DJ Augustin / Melton / Mason Jones.......?Exum?) SG) Eric Gordon...........(Kevin Porter, DJ Augustin / Melton / Mason Jones.......?Exum?) Is this meant to block us from drafting Cade Cunningham or Jalen Green or Jalen Suggs if we keep our pick and it stays top 4? Force us to draft Mobley or Kuminga? Of Augustin, Melton, Mason, who gets traded or are all traded, when? DJ Augustine/Melton contracts are pretty hefty for being 3rd string or 4th string backup PG/SG's. Not sure I would do this deal as is......need more details
Oh boy. NBA LIve 2003 right there. Eddie had all four of the specialist icons: dunk, 3pts, block, steals. One of the best in the game. THIS brings me memories.
