Texans, no. Although that would not exclude easterby acting on his own behalf. This is terrible for the Texans and DW. The only people that come out ahead (relatively speaking) of this is Easterby...and Buzzbe. Tinfoil hat off

If Deshaun was already dug in on not playing next year, and the Texans were dug in on not trading him, something has to give.

Him sitting out the year wouldn’t have been a huge deal to other party, especially since he said money doesn’t matter. However, his image and legacy does matter to him... probably far more than money at this point.

if an athlete were to have a tarnished image, what is the only way they can regain favor in the public and with the media? By playing/winning.

The fans are the easiest ones to forgive players for off the field stuff. Ultimately they just want their team to win... sounds dumb/foolish, but so is rooting for and spending money on sports teams (and essentially just rooting for laundry, since the players change).

one thing is for sure... nobody is talking about how the EVP is a televangelist and all the other PR snafu’s Cal and JE have committed.

    No.
I do not think the Texans are smart enough to mastermind such a coup.

But I think once the dust settles, Easterburry will be there hand extended to Deshaun in his darkest hour. Offering forgiveness and a seat at the side of the almighty father.
Just put your faith in me and Jesus The Texans love you. The town loves you. Let's keep you in our locker room and with penance and acceptance of the lord we will lead you from the dark dark depraved world you live in now to one where a glorious light always shines on you.

Let's pray on it Deshaun let's pray on it.

Who is behind it really is just a backdrop to the real issue. If, and I do mean if, Watson is guilty of this type behavior, then I am glad these women finally spoke out. That is the only way to protect more innocent women from falling prey to the types of guys who do what he is accused of. Hollywood, professional athletes, politicians, and men with power and tons of money have a history of abusing women, or crossing the line of ethics or decency in how they treat them or what they expect in return.

Its confusing how you don’t understand how sports fandom works.

I think you think you should only be fans of teams that are great all the time.

    you do you.

I’ll keep being a fan of the team... unless they do things so gross and disgusting that it’s impossible to ignore. Incompetence isn’t that. It’s just sadly something I have to live with as a fan.

12+ though claims of sexual assault/harassment/rape? Hard to see someone EVER recovering from that many claims in today’s political and social environment.

Its akin to purposefully injuring your player so he doesn’t get free agency offers but then he’s physically unplayable due to injury.

He will be a starting QB for an NFL football team at some point again in the future.

Sports fans don't really care what their favorite players do... just ask Kobe fans.

It was one person with Kobe and she “recanted.”
I agree with the general principle that sports fans are largely forgiving with many things — particularly crimes against women, sadly. But I don’t recall anyone having numerous allegations — let alone recovering from multiple allegations. Easier to believe if it was 2-3, or 4, or 5, hell maybe 6 or 7, but 12?!

so back to the “Texans orchestrated this” theory, how could they possibly expect to be able to come out anywhere on top of this. It would be like trading James Harden to a foreign league and getting paid in alien currency.

It’s more likely another team is behind this than the Texans.

If their stance was that they’re not trading him... they will not come out worse due to this.

kobe legitimately rapes somebody. So did Rothlesberger. Just because charges weren’t pursued means nothing in the court of public opinion. Watson, even if he eventually settles these suits, will play again. Because apparently taking a knee during the anthem is more of an unforgiveable offense vs crimes against women.

I am not a fan of the Texans or even the NFL, but I do like this type of conspiracy talk, so I'll just add this theory assuming he didn't do anything more than proposition these women and hang some brain as Creed would say.

Texans are like an ex spreading rumors of an ex that embarrassed them. The ex wouldn't care about what they lose so long as they embarrass their ex. The Texans are fine with losing some trade capital because Watson is damaged goods now for the rest of his career. His past won't be ignored like it has been for Roethlisberger because he's blek. He's likely suspended for a good chunk of next season no matter what. And if he's mentally fragile, he probably won't ever be the player he once was. If people in the organization hate him for signing a record contract and quickly turning against them, this type of revenge would be much sweeter than a couple of extra first round picks.

Plus what are the chances that he gets a suspension so bad that it creates a situation where the Texans can actually void that contract Watson signed to some degree?

I wouldn’t be surprised if someone told me Jack Easterby and his little b**** McNair did this to get rid of another black athlete so they could bring in a white Christian QB.
